“I thought you heard me call your name. What happened to
your wrist?” His hand went to touch her and she pulled away.

“It’s nothing.” Allie wasn’t about to explain to a stranger
what took place, besides she couldn’t tell him about Tony either.

He retreated. “Anyway, I just wanted to extend another offer
to you, we decided to have a party tonight as well. There will be a lot of
people to mingle with. All sorts of drinks and food. It’s always a good time.
We light fireworks later in the night too. You should stop by.”

“It’s been a long day, but thanks.” She hated turning him
down again and the party did sound fun. She was exhausted from the events of
the day. She just wanted to have a glass of wine and then crawl into her bed
and sleep. Sleep would help her forget all that had happened.

He shrugged. “I won’t lie, I’m disappointed. I understand
though.”

“If something happens and I get a burst of energy I’ll drop
in.” She didn’t want to lead him on, but she hated seeing him so let down.

Paul left her looking hopeful he’d see her later. Weary,
Allie climbed the stairs and into the house. She bolted the locks and went
straight for the bedroom, skipping the wine. Throwing off her clothes she
climbed under the covers naked. Her eyes closed the moment she hit the pillow.

Tony watched them from his car. It was that guy again. What
did he want from Allie? Why did he keep coming back? If he was interested in a
possible relationship he could think again. She was off limits. Tony wanted her
and he wasn’t letting some guy step into his territory.

Now that he knew she wasn’t a drug dealer he had free rein
to pursue her. He could spend time with her and continue the investigation.

He’d have to keep an eye on her place and see if that guy
appeared more often or if she went down the sandy beach to his place. Tony
didn’t like competition.

A nagging feeling came over him when the guy reached out to
Allie and she pulled away. Had he made her uncomfortable?

Maybe he should go for a walk and see where Allie’s newfound
friend resided. He could inform Dale and have him keep a closer eye on him. The
sooner this drug bust was over the sooner Tony could leave the beach, but that
meant leaving Allie too. Tony wasn’t ready to do that just yet.

Tony raced into the house to retrieve his badge and gun from
the desk drawer. He hid the gun under his shirt. Time for him to take a
leisurely stroll down the beach and see who this dog owner was and where he
lived.

The humidity was sweltering and Tony wished he could wear
less clothing, but if he did he couldn’t carry his weapon. He wasn’t sure why
he’d brought it, but his instincts were to bring it along. The flip-flops did
little to keep his feet from burning under the scorching sand, but it was
better than wearing sneakers or boots.

It didn’t take him long to spot the guy Allie had talked to
earlier. He was hanging out on his deck with a group of guys. A few girls were
lounging out on chairs with string bikinis. They might as well have been naked
for what little coverage the bathing suits provided.

“Hey, how ya doing?” Tony called the group.

“What’s up,” one of the guys responded.

“Know of any places where a guy can get lucky?” Tony was
referring to drugs, but he didn’t want to come right out and be obvious.
Beating around the bush was the safest idea.

“Depends on what you mean by lucky?” This time it was
Allie’s friend who spoke up. He looked Tony up and down, probably trying to
figure out if he was trustworthy.

Tony knew the drill. He didn’t look like cop material. He’d
been playing this game for far too long to be stupid enough to blow his cover.

“You know a little of this and that.” He nodded toward the
girls and left the rest up to interpretation.

“There’s a place right down the beach where the chicks are
swarming with the need to get lucky, if you’re looking for a quick fix. If
you’re looking to party hearty drop by later tonight when our bash is in full
swing. Actually the party will probably last a few days, they always seem to go
a little far, if you know what I mean. I’m sure I can help you out.”

Sweet. This was the in Tony was looking for. He had an
invitation to the party. He’d be able to scope out the people and see what
kinds of drugs were being exchanged, if any, because if Tony had learned one
thing from the situation with Allie, it was to be one hundred percent certain
before arresting anyone.

“That’s great. I think I’ll take you up on the offer, but
for now I’m gonna see about that quickie. A man’s got needs if you know what I
mean.”

The guys laughed and raised their beers.

“Cover up man, some of those girls have been around the
beach a few times,” Allie’s friend offered.

“Thanks for the advice.” Tony gave them a thumbs-up and
continued his trek down the beach. He didn’t see any other people who looked
suspicious enough to be drug dealers, so he swung around to the street and made
the walk back to his place.

He wondered if Allie would be at the party tonight and if
she would be going for her new friend. There was only one way to find out, go
to the party.

Back at his place he spied on his neighbor. The lights were
dim and her bedroom door was closed. It didn’t look like she was going to the
party. She was sleeping.

Chapter Four

The next night Tony peeked in on his neighbor. Allie seemed
to be getting ready for something, so he decided to pay her a friendly visit
and see what her plans were for the night.

She didn’t seem too happy to see him when she answered the
door.

“Am I interrupting anything?” he asked.

“I’m taking off soon.” She didn’t open the door all the way
and she didn’t invite him in. “What can I do for you, Tony?”

“I was invited to a party that’s supposed to be going on for
a few days. I came over to see if you’d like to go with me.” It wasn’t a lie,
he was going and if she was too, they might as well go together.

“Sorry I have plans.” Was she weakening to him? She looked
honestly sorry she couldn’t spend time with him.

“Oh. Okay, well maybe another time.”

“We’ll see. I have to go now.” She slammed the door in his
face.

Maybe he’d misread her. That didn’t seem like a woman ready
to spend time with him. He shook his head and couldn’t help but laugh. Women.
He’d never understand them. No time to worry about that. He had a party to go
to and some drugs to find.

* * * * *

Allie finished putting on her makeup and found a light sweater
to go over her sundress. The air off the water would be a bit chilly tonight
and she didn’t want to freeze as she made her way over to Paul’s.

She’d surprised herself when she’d decided to take him up on
his offer. She’d never dreamed she’d be so forward as to show up at his place,
but she was about to. When Tony came over and invited her to go out with him,
she’d been tempted. Very tempted. That was the problem. She had to get him out
from under her skin. Mingling with other people might be exactly what the
doctor ordered.

Tony’s place was dark, except for the porch light.

He had gone out for the night.

Sadness filled her. She wondered if he would find another
woman to be with, to finish what they’d started. He hardly seemed like the
player type, but she didn’t know him that well. It was for the best either way.
Allie didn’t need a relationship.

Paul was excited to see her when she arrived at his place.
She hadn’t expected so many people, but the more the merrier, right?

“Hey you made it. Come on in and make yourself comfortable.
What can I get you to drink?”

“A beer would be fine.”

Paul grabbed a cold bottle from the tub of beers. He cracked
the twist cap off and handed it to her.

“Thanks.” Allie took a swig of the golden liquid. She wasn’t
much of a partier, but tonight she wasn’t going to be the same ole Allie.
Tonight she was going to step out of her comfort zone.

“Make yourself at home. I have to go check on something.”

Nice, he invited her to the party and then left her.

She glanced around at all the partiers. She felt out of her
element. They were a bit younger than her. They all were fresh out of college
and at twenty-seven there was a difference. Pushing her fears and their
differences aside, Allie was determined to have a good time. Right up to the
point where Tony sauntered over with a beer in his hand.

“I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“What brings you to this party?” This was the last place she
thought she’d find Tony. These guys definitely didn’t seem like the type he’d
hang with, unless he thought the drug dealer was at the party.

“Paul invited me and I couldn’t resist. I was here last
night too.”

When had Paul invited Tony?

“I didn’t know you two knew each other.”

“Just met yesterday.”

How convenient.

He was distracted. Allie wanted to pull on his arm and bring
his attention back to her, but it would be fruitless. He obviously was more
interested in the other people. Did he have a woman from last night or was it a
suspect?

“If you’ll excuse me.” She brushed by him.

“Wait. Please don’t leave me to hang all by myself.”

Allie looked at him. His green eyes pleaded with her.

“For someone who wants me to hang out with him, you’re
barely paying attention to a word I’m saying.”

“Yes, I am. You said you didn’t know Paul and I knew each
other and I told you we met yesterday.” He looked her squarely in the eyes.
“Tell me I’m wrong.”

She shrugged. So he got lucky.

“Why did you come?” She had to admit she was thankful he was
here and he wanted her to keep him company.

“I thought it might be fun.” He winked.

So he was there in police mode. He was hoping to bust the
dealer.

Allie glanced around taking another look at the guests. She
couldn’t help but wonder who, if any of them, were the dealers. Another thought
plagued her. Would Tony bust up the party while she was there? She didn’t like
the thought of chaos.

At least she didn’t have to stand around feeling like an
outsider. Tony was by her side and she had someone to talk to.

“So are you having fun?”

“Nah. I feel like an old man busting in on a teenagers’ party.”

She laughed.

“That’s how I feel too.”

“Wanna walk down to the water?”

“Sure.”

He offered her his hand and she accepted. They left the
loud, obnoxious crowd behind except for a few stragglers who were drinking on
the beach. A group of guys was attempting to start a bonfire. It was the
perfect night for sitting on the beach in front of a fire.

The sky was a midnight blue, full of stars. The moon was
large and round. It was romantic.

Their hands swung between them as they headed toward the
water.

“Allie, I know I’ve said this many times, but I’m really
sorry for the misunderstanding.”

She stopped and grimaced.

“Enough of the apologizing. If you don’t stop telling me how
sorry you are, I’m going to leave you standing alone on this beach.”

“Fine. I’m glad you’re here with me.”

He stepped closer and Allie didn’t move. He was going to
kiss her. There was a look of need in his eyes.

“Me too,” she whispered. She wished he’d just lean in a
little closer and get it over with. She wanted the kiss just as much as he did.

“I really like you.”

“Oh shut up,” she said. She grabbed his face and pulled him
to her lips. They grazed against each other and the sparks were instantaneous.
Allie wanted to combust the moment his tongue slid over the threshold of her
mouth.

She inched closer, allowing him to explore. Their tongues
danced playfully. Her hands moved from his face down to his broad shoulders.
They were strong and tense under her grip.

Tony wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her off
the ground. Unable to resist she draped her legs around his strong frame. Her
arms snaked around his neck. She couldn’t get close enough to him.

He released her lips and spoke softly. “Do you think we can
find a private spot on the beach?”

Allie glanced around, thinking it would be nearly
impossible.

“What about over by those rocks?” she suggested.

“Let’s go check it out.” He started walking with her still
in his arms.

“Why don’t you let me down and I’ll walk myself. I wouldn’t
want you to use up all your strength.” She wasn’t beating around the bush. She
wanted him and she was going to have him right on the beach. Sand be damned.

Tony placed her on the ground. Allie removed her shoes and
Tony followed suit. He took her hand and they practically ran to the rocks.
They found a nice little alcove where they would be hidden from the beach
dwellers.

“This is fabulous.” She bounced up and down, excited.

“I’ve never you know…done it in the sand.”

“Me either, but I’m willing to give it a try.”

“I hear the sand can hurt.”

She shrugged. “If it gets to be too much we’ll go back to my
place. I’m sure Paul won’t miss us.”

A clouded look came over his face.

“Is something wrong?”

He shook his head. “Nothing. Nothing at all.”

She wasn’t sure she believed him, but she didn’t want to
ruin their fun, so she dropped the subject. Tony lost the worried look and
replaced it with an animal hunger. Greed, passion and lust all rolled into one.
She knew all those feelings because they ravaged her body.

Her pussy was drenched with her juices, ready for him to give
her another orgasm and another and another. She could melt in his arms all
night long.

“Do you want to go in the water?” Tony asked.

“Are you kidding? You aren’t getting me in the water at
night time. I barely step foot in the ocean during the day.”
