Aquarius at Work

There is a tendency in just about every Aquarian to make work the center of her life. Her sense of dedication to what she does is considerable, and it can be difficult for even the most loving spouse or caring family member or friend to pry her away from it. But those who love Aquarius should understand that to expect anything but 100 percent total dedication from her is unrealistic.
As long as Aquarians feel that the work being done is important, they don't give a great deal of thought to where they stand in the overall chain of command. They can manage to show leadership without being the actual leader, and because they work well alone or with others, they rarely clash with those working above or below them.
They may not give the impression of great efficiency, but Aquarians have a unique ability to organize facts and relate them with amazing clarity. Their talent for communication puts them in a class by themselves, and because they have such dedication to what they are doing, they never leave a job undone.

Typical Occupations

Aquarius can benefit from an investigation, analysis, innovation, or original idea. Scientist, astrologer, singer, charity worker, inventor, archeologist, radiographer, engineer, and humanitarian aid worker are all good career choices for an Aquarius. Working for groups that have organized for a common goal is favored. Some examples are trade unions and associations, fraternal organizations, credit unions, Internet chat rooms and the like, political groups, and environmental causes.
Aquarians work best on group projects. They make excellent researchers and admirable scientists, especially astronomers and natural historians. They may lead the field in photography, computer technology, or electronics. Aviation is also a natural vocation for Aquarians.
Aquarians' progressive talents are expressed well in writing and in broadcast television or radio presenter or writer. In the theater, they make good character actors and are natural mimics. Many Aquarians make fine and progressive musicians. They make effective welfare workers or educators.

  • prefers mental to physical work
  • enjoys working with a group

  • likes to work on her own

  • has leadership potential

Aquarius As Coworker

The typical Aquarian is a loner, despite having a lot of workplace-based friendships. But he has the attributes of an Air sign—being able to get along with many different kinds of people without difficulty. Aquarius works well in groups, as team leader, or as a subordinate.

Details, Details

Aquarians don't think of themselves as detail-oriented people, and for the most part, they aren't. But that is mostly by choice. Actually, they have a fine mind for handling details, and they are particularly proficient at delegating detailed work to others, while still keeping an eye on all the areas and endeavors that comprise a project. Probably their best instinct for detailed work is being able to translate numbers and facts into concepts.
One reason Aquarians may not feel comfortable handling details is their tendency to be somewhat absentminded. Their answer to this problem is to be nearly obsessive about writing things down. By keeping copious lists of facts, dates, times, and names, they are better able to manage projects that call for these things to be remembered. In this way, though Aquarians may worry quite a lot about keeping all their facts straight, they are probably better prepared than most people to handle them.

Money

Any award or contest whose payout is stretched out into the future is appropriate for an Aquarius. Those with an astrological connection or something to do with numerology, the science of numbers, are also favored. Additionally, any games and prizes with a scientific, space, futuristic, or historic theme attract an Aquarian's interest.
If an Aquarian comes up with an idea that she thinks can be sold, she should pursue it. Patent attorneys and venture capitalists may be receptive, especially to ideas for making people's lives better and longer and businesses more productive.
Computers and electronics are also favored moneymakers for Aquarians. A futuristic technology could be easy for an Aquarian to understand and profit from. Good fortune is more likely to come to an Aquarius through friends than through other ways. They may bring good fortune in the form of a gift or helpful advice.
Aquarians have a love/hate relationship with money. They love it for the freedom it brings, but they hate the fact that they only have so much of it and are therefore restricted by it. Aquarians are drawn to charitable causes and are often the anonymous donors of substantial amounts.

At Home

Aquarians can get so comfortable in their own home and their own space that they don't want to leave, which is one of the reasons many Aquarians work from home. But whether they do or not, they are at ease with an unconventional household schedule.

Behavior and Abilities at Home

  • radical politics

The Secret Side of Aquarius

Inside anyone who has strong Aquarian influences is a person who is extremely uncertain of his true identity. The Aquarius ego is the most precarious in the zodiac, because it is the sign of nonconformity. Intellectual genius, practical eccentricity, and mental oddity are all linked with Aquarius. The Aquarius personality has a powerful intellect. Putting this brainpower to good, practical use is the best way for Aquarius to build his ego.

Uranus

Uranus is the planet of eccentricity, genius, rebelliousness, revolution, and invention. It represents the forces in life that want to keep things new, exciting, and on the edge. It symbolizes the crisis of middle age that occurs at age forty, when people are tested to see whether they have made their lives a statement of their unique individuality. Uranus rules electricity and electrical devices such as computers, radios, and television sets, dynamite and all explosives, and especially futuristic devices. Uranus is the planet of crazy theories and science fiction that will one day be revealed as scientific fact.
Uranus is the planet of the unusual and the extreme. Recent satellite photos reveal that unlike any other planet, it has its north pole, not its equator, pointed at the Sun! Uranus rules ankles and wrists, and intuitive intellect. Uranus also rules science, invention, and discovery as well as the science of astrology itself.

Bringing Up a Young Aquarius

It is good to show Aquarian children how there is a bit of the genius or eccentric inside of them. It is also a good idea to expose them to humanitarian goals. More importantly, it is important to show them how humanitarian goals are reached by interacting with others. Teach them the value of looking at each situation as if seeing it for the first time.
Young Aquarius has an analytical, inquiring mind that is constantly processing information. She needs plenty of exposure to new ways of doing, making, and trying out inventions. A calm environment is essential to young Aquarius, because she is so sensitive to underlying tensions in the home. In practical terms, she needs to be taught simple methods for remembering things and for communicating her ideas to others.
Like any child, Aquarius needs love, especially in the form of respect, listening, appreciation, and friendship. Young Aquarius tends to act detached and dispassionate, sometimes finding close, intimate relationships difficult. She often looks more confident and acts older than she actually is, so parental encouragement and genuine interest in her ideas and needs should be expressed to reassure her.

The Aquarius Child

The typical Aquarius child:

  • tends to be forgetful
  • is sensitive and intuitive
  • has unpredictable moods
  • possesses amazing talents
  • finds everything and everyone interesting
  • is generous and kind to friends
  • can have sudden outbursts of temper
  • rebels against rules and regulations
  • has lots of friends
  • is very bright and grasps ideas quickly

Aquarius As a Parent

The typical Aquarius parent:

  • makes rational judgments
  • is energetic and intelligent
  • endorses modern educational theories
  • does not overdiscipline or inhibit
  • is prepared to discuss any problem
  • encourages independence of thought
  • does not like convention or conformity
  • is a devoted friend for life

Health

Aquarians have vast amounts of energy but often drive themselves into the ground, not knowing when they are tired. They have the habit of not listening to others' advice to slow down, and they can be rebellious patients who won't admit defeat. Aquarians need lots of fresh air, plenty of sleep, and regular exercise to stay healthy. Often, their work puts great demands on their eyesight and their time, but they should never miss an appointment at the optician's. They can have poor circulation, manifesting itself in leg and ankle problems, which are the body parts that Aquarius rules.
