CHAPTER 10

                                                                      JAZMYN

“Jaz, come on we are going to be late.” Samya screamed on the other side of my door. It was the day of Justice’s cook out and I couldn’t wait to see him again. We haven’t had a chance to see each other since the night I met him at the bar. Either he was too busy doing whatever he do or I was at school or work, or just flat out too tired. We have talked on the phone almost every day though; I like that fact that I can be myself when I talk to him.

“Jazmyn Teyana Taylor, if you don’t bring yo ass. Damn, it takes you hours just to get ready.”

“Damn, Mya. I’m ready and don’t be calling my government like you mama. I ought to kick yo ass.” I said when I opened the door.

“Bitch who you trying to look cute for.” She smirked. I was wearing a white short set romper and some white Jordan 11’s. My hair was in a half bun and the back was bone straight. I had on my gold name plate and gold tennis bracelet. I wore no makeup only some pink lip gloss and black eyeliner. “Not you, now come on talking about me trick, look at you.” I said and looked her from top to bottom. She had on a 2 piece Macacao floral jumpsuit. She had on her black Christian Louboutin wedges. Her hair was done in wand curls and styled to perfection.

“I don’t know why but I’m nervous. He wants me to meet his mother.” She said wiping the sweat off her palms.

“Why are you meeting his mama if yall not official?” I asked with a sly grin. She can fool everybody else but not me.

“Girl I don’t know; that was his idea, not mines.” She said as we walked down the stairs.

“Yea right hoe, who you…”

“Um mmm, where yall off to looking all sexy and shit?” Larry asked blocking our path.

“None of yo damn business, now move.” I said with much attitude. I couldn’t stand Larry’s crack headed ass. Mama can play like she don’t know that man doing drugs but Ray Charles can see it clear as day.

“I just want to know where yall was headed, yall need some money or something.” He asked licking his crusty lips.

Nigga you know you don’t have no money, now you better move before I call mama.” Mya sassed.

“She not yo mama!”

“Let’s see what she got to say about that. MAMAAA, COME GET LARRY. HE WON’T LET US BY AND HE DOWN HERE FUCKING WITH US.” She yelled. We could hear her coming down the stairs. I grabbed my gold clutch off the counter and car keys because I knew she was about to snap.

“Larry get the fuck away from my girls.” She went off.

“Baby, that girl lying. She wa...”

“I don’t give a fuck what she was doing. I don’t play about my babies and if I find out you in their face you gone hate it.”

“Fuck you talking about Tuesday. These little hoes down here fuckin...” he said when all hell broke loose.

“Nigga I know damn well,” she said hitting him in the face. Mya and I didn’t even want to witness that ass whooping so instead of enjoying the show, we bounced. We jumped in my car and sped off, listening to the Migos mixtape.

When we arrived to their mother house, I damn near turned back around and went home.  The fact that her whole front yard was filled with cars scared me. If I had known it was going to be this packed I would have never came. I hate being somewhere crowded.

“Damn he must be well-known, huh?” I asked looking at the house again. I checked my face and got out behind Samya.

“From the way Harlem talk, he is.” She said.

When we walked to the back where the cookout was being held, there were niggas everywhere playing cards and shooting dice. Ratchet bitches were half naked trying to trap the next baller to fighting and arguing with their baby daddy. I shook my head and continued to follow behind Samya, we went and sat on one of the empty picnic tables while she texted Harlem. I saw him walking over and tapped Mya, she quickly hurried to put her phone away and I looked confused because that’s who I thought she was texting. Apparently I was wrong because she looked like she was about to get caught up. She cut her eyes at me and I gave her a look that said we need to talk.

“What’s up Bae?” Harlem said pulling Mya in for a kiss. “What’s up Jaz, how you living?”

“Fine,” I kept it short. He whispered something in Mya’s ear, she smiled and shook her head yea.
Nasty,
I smirked and took out my phone to check Facebook. You would think after all the shit I’ve been through, I would stay off Facebook. I walked over to the cabana to get a drink. I told the bartender to give me a vodka tonic when Samya called me over.

“Jaz come on, he want us to meet his mother.”

Did she just say us? Uh un this bitch think she slick.
“Oh yall can go head, I’ll say hey later.”

Mya walked over to me and grabbed my hand. I knew she was scared but damn she acted like she never met a man’s mother before. She was practically pulling me across the yard until I snatched my hand away. I was just about to walk in when I heard somebody call my name. I turned around to see Prince’s home boy Grip walking towards me. “What’s up, Grip?” I asked dryly.

“Not shit, what are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same thing.”
“Who? These are my peoples. You know Prince been losing his mind trying to find you?”

“Nigga you say that like I care. Me and Prince are done so you can tell him he can stop looking. It ain’t like I was lost anyway.” I said and walked off. I needed to find Samya before I snapped on his nasty looking ass. I never liked Grip, he has too much mouth but is a pussy nigga. It’s a shame to be his size and scary. Grip was so big he looked like the comedian Bruce Bruce.
Sloppy ass
!

“JAZ,” I heard Samya call me. I turned around and walked towards her. She pulled me closer to whisper in my ear. “Don’t freak out but Prince is here.”

You got to be kidding me.
I thought trying to walk away but Mya was holding my hand so tight that it was impossible. “Mya, I can’t be around h…”

“Aye bruh,” I heard Harlem call Justice from behind me. I really didn’t feel like being here anymore, just the mention of his name fucked up my whole mood. All I was worried about was getting the fuck out of there before I came face to face with Prince. I didn’t have time to argue or to hear his wack ass excuses. I knew he would cause a scene and embarrass me not caring how bad he was making himself look.

Justice walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I wanted to melt in his arms that’s how confortable I felt being around him. His Gucci cologne lingered in the air and when he kissed my neck I shivered. I heard him chuckle and turned around, “You look nice.” I said admiring his swag, from the looks of it I could tell he wore nothing but the latest. He had on a red Gucci polo shirt, some black True Religion jeans and a pair of all black Valenciato’s rested on his feet. His jewelry matched the way he looked, his big gold diamond chains and diamond incrusted watch damn near blinded me.

“You look even better.” He said checking me out then hugged me again. At this point Prince being here didn’t even matter; he was a non-mother fucking factor. Justice had made me forget all about why I was trying to leave. Shit, I wasn’t going nowhere now.
Prince who?
I thought as I looked over at Samya. She smirked at me and Harlem told us to come on. We walked in the kitchen where the older folks were hanging out at. Harlem introduced Samya as his girl and she gave him a look that I’m pretty sure their mother caught.

“Nice to meet you,” Samya said and I can tell by just the tone of her voice she wasn’t feeling the way Harlem introduced her. I needed to see what was really going on with her because I can tell it’s something bigger than what she claiming it is.

“It’s finally nice to meet the woman my son can’t stop talking about. He tells me you are scared to commit and I can’t say that I blame you. I made his father earn my love and that nigga still fucked around on me.” Their mother stated causing me and Samya to laugh. “And who is this Justice?” she asked looking at me.

“Hi, I’m Jazmyn.” I said and waved.

“Aren’t you a pretty thang? Justice, one finally caught your eye huh? She asked him.

“Yea she might be wifey, if she plays her cards right.” He said smacking my ass. “We just chilling right now though, aint that right, ma?” Justice said

“Whateva boy, you practically ran upstairs when Harlem said them girls just pulled up.” Ms. Rachelle said putting Justice on blast.

“Damn bruh,” Harlem laughed.

“Ah Mama, I see you got jokes. Well on that note, we about to let y’all be before you start reminiscing.” Justice said before grabbing my hand and walking out. I told Ms. Rachelle it was nice meeting her and looked back to see where Samya and Harlem went. I shook my head when I saw them heading upstairs.

Justice asked was I hungry and I said yea. He walked me outside to get something to eat. He offered to fix my plate but I declined and fixed his instead. “You trying to spoil a nigga already.” He said when I placed a plate full of bbq chicken, sausage links, potato salad, devil eggs, baked mac and cheese, meatballs and corn on the cob in front of him.

“Nah, I was just raised that a women should always fix the man plate. I guess I’m just so used to doing it.” I replied

“That’s what’s up,” he said before digging in.

We was eating and talking for what seem like forever when I spotted Mya coming out the back door. Her hair wasn’t like it was when she left me. It was parted this way and her bang was swooped to the side. I was about to laugh at her dumb ass for even coming out the house like that. I know Ms. Rachelle was cracking up right about now. I told Justice I would be back and walked off to go help her fix it. Before I could reach her, I was being yanked by my neck in the opposite direction.

“Bitch, is you fucking stupid?” Prince said pushing me further and further away from the crowd.

“Prince move, let me go!”

“Who do you think you are talking to Jaz? Don’t get fucked up out here.”

“I’m done with you, I’m sick of you and all the bullshit you put me through. Move, get off of me. I’m serious Prince, move.” I said trying to pull away from his strong grip.

“We are done when I say we done. I don’t give a fuck about you being serious! You think ima let you go that easy, you must be stupid. Nah ma, I ain’t going nowhere and neither are you. You know where home is, so stop playing games and bring all that shit you took back home and I aint asking you.”

“Are you hard of hearing or just deaf? Should I break this down slowly so yo retarded ass can better understand me? We are O. V. E. R.” I spelled it out so he could see that I wasn’t playing.

He grabbed me by my throat and threw me up against somebody car. “You think Im stupid, you don’t know I know you been seeing that nigga. Then yo hoe ass all up in Justice’s face, being disrespectful and shit. Do you know how bad you are making me look?” He squeezed tighter “You wanna leave me, huh? Well, this is the only way out, try me you want to Jaz. If I can’t have you, nobody can.” I clawed at his hands praying to God he let me go. I was feeling light headed as I was struggling to breathe when all of a sudden Prince was pushed and I dropped to the ground. I quickly breathed deep sucking in air.

“Fuck wrong with you, nigga?” Justice said while Mya came and helped me up.

“This aint got nothing to do with you big homie. This is between me and my girl.”

“Kill that noise Prince, with yo punk ass. Jaz left yo trifling ass about three weeks ago. And put you fucking hands on my sister again and see what happens.”

“Shut the fuck up bitch! You are probably the one that put her up to this shit, got her out here looking like a fucking hoe.”

“I don’t know what the fuck is going on but watch yo mouth when you talking to this one.” Harlem said standing beside me and Mya.

Justice asked if I was ok and I was too ashamed to answer him. I put my head down and told Mya I was ready to go. I tried to pass her my keys but Prince snatched them out my hand.

“That’s my shit or have you forgotten. You wanna play me in front of my niggas? Cool but walk yo ass back to yo mama, bitch.” I watched him tossed the keys to somebody. When Justice moved, I came face to face with the one chick that made my life a living hell.
No this nigga didn’t sit up here and choke me out but going to have the nerve to give the same bitch, he been lying to me about for 2 years, my fucking car keys.
By now I was pissed and ready for war, Prince wanted to show his ass. Well it’s my turn!

I ran up on ole girl and punched her in the face. She fell on the ground and tried to roll over to stop me from getting on top of her. I grabbed her hair and kicked her in the face. “You thought I wasn’t going to see that ass, huh?” I said going to work on her face. Justice and Prince tried to break us but I didn’t plan on stopping any time soon. This ass whooping was long overdue. I was just about to kick her in the stomach when what she said next broke my heart.

“No, I’m pregnant, please.” She whimpered crying. I loosened my grip and backed away from her. I started to walk off when Prince grabbed me.
