After messing around with Renee, I wasn’t steading her though. I didn’t want to waste any energy chilling with Tiana, when I could be spending it with Renee.

Renee had her issues, but so did everyone else. She never had a man to love her like I was about to love on her and I hope that she was ready for it. I thought, grabbing our plates from last night and walking them over to the trash can.

I don’t know why, but, I looked inside and saw an empty bottle of Hennessy and I got upset. She told me about her health problems and her alcohol addiction, and I wasn’t playing with the shit. I wasn’t about to lose her to something that was so simple to cure as not drinking.

I pulled the bottle out of the trash and decided to check her. She was doing good and I hated the fact that me standing her up was probably the cause of her taking a drink. But no, I couldn’t blame myself. She had to stop being weak like that. She needed to learn that drinking wasn’t going to solve none of her problems.

I continued to cook, wondering if I was even ready to jump into something so serious. She gave me the scapegoat last night when she said that I wasn’t her man. But, fuck that. She was all mines.

She still didn’t know that she was fucking with a millionaire and I liked how our relationship was moving along without my money as a factor. She was something special.

I made a simple breakfast that consisted of toast, scrambled cheese eggs, bacon, and orange juice. I grabbed the empty liquor bottle and sat it on the tray along with her breakfast. She was still sleeping like a baby when I got to the room. I assumed it was because of the mixture of our hours of lovemaking and the alcohol that I didn’t know she had consumed.

“Wake up sleepy head.” I shouted, standing over her with the tray in tow. She stirred a bit, and flipped over to her opposite side. “You not about to sleep the day away Renee. Wake that ass up!” I put a little more base in my voice this time.

“I’m tired, Diesel! My head hurts!” She groaned, pulling the covers over her head.

I set the tray down on the night stand and sat next to her on the edge of the bed. “Come on, get up. I’m about to head out and I wanted to talk to you before I go. Plus, I made breakfast. I ain’t never made breakfast for nobody so you better get up and enjoy this food!”

She finally sat up, and I put the tray in front of her. The first thing she noticed was the empty Hennessy bottle.

She looked up at me with a questioning glare. “What was the purpose of that being there?” She asked, pointing to the bottle.

“I don’t know. I was just wondering why it was in the trash. I know you not drinking again?”  I may have been overstepping my boundaries. But, I genuinely cared. If I didn’t, then I wouldn’t have said anything.

She waved me off, taking the bottle off of the tray. “I had a drink last night. It’s not a big deal.”

I screwed my face up, cocking it to the side. “So your health isn’t a big deal? You’re a doctor now?” I asked sarcastically. I didn’t like the way that she just shrugged things off.

She sat up and placed the food tray to the side. “No, I’m not a doctor. Why are you getting all worked up like that? I appreciate your concern, but I have it under control.”

Why did I care so much? I wondered, getting pissed off. If she didn’t care about her own health, then I shouldn’t have. “If you want to kill yourself then be my guest.” I told her, with a shake of the head, grabbing my shirt. “I’m out. I’ll holla’ at you later.” I turned around and walked straight out the door. She called after me, but, I kept going.

In two short months I really was starting to dig her. When she confided in me her health issues, I told her that I didn’t want to ever see her drinking again. I told her that I would help her through everything and I was keeping up my end. But, I’ll be damned if I stuck around, allowing my heart to get attached, and watched her kill herself. I couldn’t experience that pain twice.

Renee

My heart rate sped up with fear, and concern as I watched Diesel march out of the house. I called after him. I even wanted to get up and try to stop him. But, I couldn’t. I never had a man show so much compassion for me. Especially not so soon. I didn’t know how to take it. That’s why I came off so standoffish.

I hopped up out of the bed and went to grab my cell phone. I had to call and apologize for my behavior. I understand where he was coming from. But, he had to understand me as well. I’m only human and my recovery wasn’t going to happen overnight.

I dialed his number and he shot me to voicemail. That only made me dial his number a second time, then a third. I was prepared to blow his phone up until he answered.

“Yes Renee?” He finally picked up. He sounded a bit annoyed, and for the first time since we jumped head first into our little affair, I realized that I didn’t really know too much about him. I didn’t know if he liked to be left alone when he was mad, or if his sudden departure meant that he was done with me. I just didn’t know, and a flicker of nervous energy ran throughout my body.

After a brief pause, I finally gathered my words and spoke. “Why did you just up and leave like that? Are you mad at me or something?” I asked, as my eyes landed on an envelope laying on the floor under my living room table.

“Nah, I’m good. Ain’t no since in me being mad.” The chill in his voice told me that he wasn’t telling the truth.

“Then why do you sound like that?” I countered, challenging him.

He let out a husky breath of air into the phone. “Look Renee, when I said I want to be your man, I meant the shit. I’m diggin’ you. But, I’m not gone sit up here and front like you drinking don’t bother me. Besides, you’re the one that said that you was going to get it together. I been through too much and I’m not going to knowingly put myself in a situation that can end up with me getting hurt.”

“But, you’re saying that like I’m about to die right now or something. I never said that I had anything, I said that I was at risk of developing it. One slip up is not going to hurt anybody.” I retorted, only wanting him to lighten up.

“Yea okay. You don’t have it now but keep that mindset up. When you play with fire, you’ll eventually get burned. Anyways, let me hit you back so that I can call my homeboy.” He ended the conversation without saying bye.

Our conversation didn’t make me feel any better. I really hope that I didn’t push him away. He made me feel complete and there’s no way that I wanted to lose that feeling.

Tiana

I sat in this boring ass hotel room all night writhing with anger. Here it was morning, and I was still alone. This wasn’t exactly how I planned for things to go. Diesel was supposed to be here with me and we were supposed to be making the headboards bang against the wall all night with toe-curling sex!

I flew all the way here to surprise him and this is how he does me? In the matter of seconds my anger level went from 0-100. I was so mad that I was crying angry tears. I eventually became so frustrated that I took my purse and slung it across the room. The contents of my purse fell out, scattering everywhere.

I had problems controlling my anger sometimes, and this was one of those times. When I wanted something I hated to be denied. Just as I was about to throw something else, I heard someone fiddling with the door and instantly I knew it was Diesel.

I hauled ass to the bathroom to fix myself up so that my emotions wouldn’t be showing all over my face. I smiled. He better had of came here, because I would have given him hell.

“Tiana?” He called out to me once he got into the room. I heard the bed creak as he sat down on it.

“I’m in the bathroom. I’ll be out in a second.” I yelled, using my paddle brush to tame my hair, which had gotten out of place a little from me not tying it down.

“Ewwe, you shitting?” He teased, causing me to giggle.

“No, crazy!  I’m washing my face and brushing my teeth. How was your night?” I asked, trying my best to sound unfazed. I wanted to curse his ass the hell out, but I decided it was best not to show him that side of me… at least not yet.

“It was straight. I didn’t do much.”

He was lying. I could hear it in his voice. He was with some bitch. I just knew it. “That’s good. So are you ready to spend some time with me?” I forced myself to change the subject. No man liked a nagging ass woman, and I tried my best not to.

“I still can’t believe you flew all the way across the country on a humbug.” He said staring at me as I walked out of the bathroom. He just wasn’t letting it go.

I rolled my eyes and plastered a smile across my face, as I turned towards him. “I wanted to see you. And stop acting like you’re not happy to see me.”

“Yea, I guess.” He muttered, then added. “How long you here for? I have a lot of business to handle this week, so I’m not going to be able to chill like that.”

I read in to that. It was definitely another bitch. I let out a breath of air and counted to ten in my head. “I’m here for a week, and I’m hungry can we go to breakfast?” I asked, going to my suite case, grabbing an outfit to throw on, and making my way back to the bathroom.

I went shopping before I came so I had nothing but sexy pieces to seduce him with. Today I chose to wear a reddish pink mini dress, with a plunging neckline by Emilio Pucci and a pair of Alexandre Birman suede cage lace-up sandals.  I slid on a couple of gold bangles and my 4kt diamond studs and I was ready to go.

After I was fully dressed with a touch of make-up, I made my way out to where Diesel had his face buried into his phone, texting. “Are you ready?” I asked, interrupting him.

He looked up at me and I think I saw a glimmer of lust in his eyes. His lips twitched into a smile. “Damn. I almost forgot how sexy your ass was. But, we just going to breakfast, Super Star.”

I waved him off. “You know I stay fly whether I’m going to the grocery store, or to a star studded event. You never know who you’ll run into.” I winked, grabbing my purse. “Come on. I’m starved!”

After breakfast, we ended up running a few errands, then we hit one of Diesel’s friend’s party at some little rinky dink club. It was so ratchet at that. No one dressed up and they were smoking so much weed that I was beginning to catch a contact. I could have came in my pajamas and still would have been the best looking woman in the place. I was annoyed to say the least.

I was nowhere near a “hood” chick. My parents raised me well in the suburbs, I lived in luxury. Diesel didn’t even seem like the type to frequent this type of establishment. So I was a bit confused as to why we ended up here. I would have much rather going back to the hotel, in privacy, and worked on getting a little closer to each other.

I folded my arms tightly across my chest and began to pout. Not only was I at this stupid club against my will, but, Diesel wasn’t paying me much attention. I cut my eyes over to where he stood, engaged in a conversation with some man, and rolled my eyes.

Diesel

Man, it felt good to be back home! My homeboy Big Mike and Gotti got together and threw me a little something tonight. It wasn’t anything big, we were just kicking it at a low key spot on the Westside called Teresa’s.

We were holding the VIP area down with bottles of expensive champagne, and sexy ass women. I wasn’t too much paying them any mind though. Renee was running through my head. I wanted to see her smile, and I wanted to feel her skin against mine. I don’t even know why I got so angry with her.

I ran straight to the hotel where Tiana was after I left Renee. I figured I would spend a little time with her and send her on her way. But, her ass was clinging to me like wet clothes. Something was a little off about her. I was officially claiming that. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But, I wasn’t even trying to sit up and figure it out. I was ditching her ass after we leave here and hooking up with Renee.

We had been texting all day. I apologized to her. I wished that she could be here turning up with me right now. But, we were going to turn up tonight. My soldier was at full salute just thinking about how I was about to tear that ass up.

“So what the fuck is up?” Big Mike yelled out to me over the music.

Big Mike had to be about 6’5 and 250 pounds. He was a fresh nigga, with all the latest designer clothes, and expensive flashy rides. Back in the day he used to run Detroit, but he passed his empire down to his nephew and was now reaping the benefits of the years that he put in work.

“Shit, really I’ve been just chilling. I met this chick the other night and I been trying to put the cuffs on her.” I admitted, grabbing my glass of Moet and taking a sip.

Both Gotti and Big Mike cut their eyes over to where Tiana sat with Gotti’s wife, Chiquita, and some random broad that Big Mike chose to keep company with tonight.

“Who her?” Gotti asked, referring to Tiana.

“Hell naw. I don’t fuck with her like that. I mean I was kicking it with her back in LA. But, her ass just popped up in Detroit like ‘I’m here, come get me’. No warning or nothing.” My face twisted into a frown.

“Aww hell nah!” They both shrieked in unison.

“Really bro?” Gotti rested one of his hands on my shoulder and leaned in to talk to me. “ Straight up, I would have left that broad right where she was at. How you just gone let a bitch pop up on you like you some nut ass nigga?”

“Yea man. She did play you like a nut. And you making that shit okay by parading her around. But, she is fine as hell though, with her stuck up ass. Look at her. She looks like one of those uppity broads that don’t suck dick.” Big Mike joked, and we all cracked up with laughter.
