He headed to the bedroom to check on Vanessa, finding her in bed clutching the blue baby blankets she’d been so excited to buy when the boys were born. He made his way to her on silent feet and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.  He left her there, his heart heavy to feel the pain emanating from her. While all remained silent, he left the condo all together. He couldn’t bear to sit and wait around.

Gerd made sure her make up appeared picture perfect, vibrant red, just like always. One thing she appreciated about modern humans was the clothing of today.  In the past, she never would have attempted to wear a super short mini dress, certainly not something so tight and obscene seeming, but in today’s world, she could get away with it. Freyr could never resist her wearing something like this, not for that fat bitch who couldn’t wear tight clothing for all the rolls that would escape.

Gerd allowed herself a moment to laugh at her witty remarks. She couldn’t wait to have Freyr all to herself anymore. Then, she’d throw it in the face of all those immortals who thought themselves better than her. She would have the power. Then, she would be able to continue her extra-curricular activities with men much better than her husband.

“Soon,” she reminded herself. Soon she would have everything she deserved and more. Then she would be able to get rid of that wretched human and her bastard children while they were still too human to survive.

She licked her lips, imagining the absolute delicious look that would likely be on Freyr’s face when he learned what she wanted of him. The thought of his pain made her wet between the thighs. First, she had to take care of getting him to meet with her. Only then could she make her plan work.

She didn’t have time to dial the first number before her cell rang, pronouncing Freyr’s usual impatience. “Hello, my love. To what do I owe the pleasure of your call?”

“Save it,” he said immediately. “Where are my children?”

Though she knew he couldn’t see it, a wicked smile spread across her lips. “What makes you think I want anything to do with those monsters of yours? It’s a shame, how someone like you with perfectly good genes would sully yourself to lay with such a nothing woman, and to father such ugly children, too,” she made a pitying sound, “I feel so bad. You could have had so much more if you had stayed with me.”

“Really, when you spread your legs for the likes of servants? At least my woman has money of her own, and better, a tighter pussy than you ever possessed, even after giving birth. I’d have to nearly slide my whole fist inside you along with my cock just to get some tightness.”

Rage took over before she could help herself, turning her whole face red. “Have you ever thought that maybe it’s because your cock’s so pencil thin, and not that there’s anything wrong with me? You are the one that can’t satisfy me.”

He made a sound of his own. “Doubtful. Remember, I caught you in bed with your lover and I can say, you lie about me. Now, let’s make this easy. Give me back my sons and I won’t kill you. Withhold them from me, and I will make you beyond sorry for ever coming against me. Your family will be unable to save you.”

Her grip tightened on her phone until she heard cracking from the plastic. She had to get a hold of herself if she were going to actually come out on top. She had to stop allowing this man to get one over on her. Her plan wouldn’t come to fruition otherwise. “I’ll make a deal with you. If you meet with me and agree to my terms, I’ll allow your bastards to live. I will even allow them to be returned to their mother. How about that?”

There was silence for so long she had to check her phone to see if they were still connected. She didn’t worry that he wouldn’t accept her terms. For whatever reason, when he fell in love, he remained devoted. No, the trouble he most likely had was trying to outsmart her, which she would never allow. She had the brains and therefore had all the control.

“Fine,” he finally said. “Tell me where to meet you.”

She gave him directions to her home and sat back to wait. He would be here soon enough and then, she would be able to have everything she wanted, just as she wanted it.

Freyr sat in his car, debating his next move. His son and nieces needed a way to lock in on the twins, more than what they currently had. He could feel the boys in the back of his mind, and they were both unhappy, calling for him. Only Gerd and her accomplices seemed to have the full answers. The news stations running the Amber Alert didn’t seem enough. You could hide newborns better than you could small children.

He set his cell phone in its docking station in case he received another call. He debated whether or not he should inform Vanessa of his plan to confront his ex-wife. He didn’t want her to wake up alone, and worry about him, but he also didn’t want her knowing where he was and worrying about what he planned to do either. He started the engine. It would be better if he took care of business first and ask for forgiveness later. When she held her sons that would most likely hold her attention better than anything else. Decision made, he took off, outside the city toward the wealthier suburbs where Gerd made her temporary home.

In the back seat sat his beloved sword, returned to him before he made the call to Gerd. Its presence so close, soothed his spirit, made him feel more like a warrior than ever before. He doubted Gerd understood what she was getting into, forgetting the lengths he was willing to go to protect his family. Whatever she thought, he knew she hadn’t thought absolutely everything through. She couldn’t have if she thought he would leave the love of his life for her, a woman that could not remain faithful. He’d be a fool to even contemplate such an action.

His mind settled, he shifted the car into drive and took off toward his ex-wife’s temporary home. The whole time of his drive he searched mentally for his twin boys, hoping that somehow, they would be able to reach him.

Gerd had it all set up, the X rack, the saddle, and all her other favorite tools. In her hand, she held her favorite whip. Freyr would have no chance against her. She made sure her crimson corset highlighted her pale breasts to perfection, breasts her husband had never before resisted during their marriage. She gave a smirk to her image, knowing that she looked damn good. Victory would taste so sweet.

Her juices started collecting in her G-string as she imagined what it would feel like to shove her victory in the face of that black bitch. Freyr would help her, too. He would have no choice if he wanted those bastards to survive the night. With the handle of her whip she began to rub against her engorged clit, loving the zinging feeling it gave her.

Perhaps I’ll have enough time to take the edge off before the main event.
She still had that new vibrator needing to be broken in. She wished she dared bring her current lover into the mix, but knowing Freyr, he would only find a reason to complain. She wanted to give no reason for him to nag at her until she had him firmly in hand. She had to remember why she had to do this. She couldn’t lose sight now, when victory would be had.

Vanessa awoke alone in bed. Her pained eyes and aching heart reminded her of what she missed. Her poor babies were out there somewhere in the city, possibly being harmed. She felt terrible being stuck at home while they were missing. When she went to turn to look for Freyr, she immediately knew that he wasn’t at home. She didn’t blame him either. He had powers she still didn’t fully understand, and he was a warrior, unable to stay at home to allow the cops to do their jobs.

She sent a silent prayer for his safety and success and while she was at it, she prayed that he didn’t do anything to get in trouble. The last thing she needed was for him to be arrested for murder. She refused to take her children to a prison to visit their father.

She climbed from beneath the covers. Hopefully her parents were still sleeping so that she could be left to her thoughts. As soon as she had her sons back, she would tell Freyr that they were moving. She hadn’t wanted to so soon, but the protections offered by his friends and family would go a long way to making her feel safe about her children. That way, should Gerd ever try something like this again, people would be in place to see her stopped. If that didn’t work, Vanessa planned to learn how to handle a sword herself, because she would cut the bitch to the quick if necessary. No one else was going to use her babies for their own nefarious deeds. That was a mother’s promise.

She shuffled her way to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee while she waited for word about Freyr and the twins. If pulling her hair out would help, then she would have been more than happy to do so, but for the moment, she settled for pacing the length of the of the living room. The heroes had no idea just how tough the damsels in distress had it. All this worrying was bound to have a negative effect on her.

“Vanessa, what are you doing, Baby Girl,” her father said from the hallway leading in.

She turned to face him. “Nothing, daddy. I’m just waiting to hear from Freyr.”

“That boy couldn’t wait for the police to do their jobs, huh.” He scratched the back of his closely cropped head, reminding Vanessa of all the times in the past he’d done the same when looking for answers.

“Can you blame him? If I’d been awake, I would be out there with him.” She didn’t have the heart to tell her father about who Freyr really was. She couldn’t take the thought of what her parents might think about the man she chose to spend the rest of her life with.

She watched her father settle on the couch, his gently lined face thoughtful. “That boy will find my grandbabies. If the sense I get about him is correct, he won’t stop until he gets them babies back into your arms.”

A slight smile touched her lips. “You’re right, dad. Freyr’s the kind that’ll tear this city apart if necessary to get our boys back.”

“That’s what a man should do.”

“That mean you’re going to stop complaining about the twins looking like their father?”

He made a noise at the back of his throat. “Who ever heard of black babies named Faas and Fawke? You need to be schooling your man on proper names, like Jerome and Jeremy.”

Vanessa found herself laughing unexpectedly. “Jerome and Jeremy, huh,” she sat beside him, “You do realize that the boys aren’t named after anyone from either family? Besides, once this is all over, we’re going to Sweden, where Faas and Fawke are acceptable names, and crazy ex-wives have a hard time coming at us.”

His arm wrapped around her shoulders. “So, you really think this has to do with an ex?”

She sighed. “I don’t think. I know. His ex-wife has been a thorn in our side for a while. She cheated on him, demanded the divorce and pretty much forced him to have to move here, and now that he’s finally happy and she doesn’t have the perks that being his wife brings, she wants him back. That’s what all this foolishness is about.”

“That’s why you should never just marry a woman because she looks pretty. Those kind almost always end up being crazy,” her dad said. “I married your mother because she was much more than pretty. She’s a great cook.”

That is the understatement of the century
, she thought. Gerd seemed to go beyond crazy and it was possible that Freyr actually would have to kill his ex-wife to protect their family. What she really hoped, is that Freyr didn’t live to regret whatever decision he finally had to make. But, again, she could never tell her father any of that. “She’s a great cook, so you put a ring on it, huh? Is that your only reason for marrying my mother? And does she know that she is only the sum of the food that comes out of her kitchen.”

Her father shrugged. “Your mother knows just how much I love her. The cooking is just one of the tools that she used to catch me.”

Vanessa couldn’t help her laugh, and for the moment, it made her very glad of the distraction. Her father knew how to do his job extremely well.

Freyr checked his sword over, making sure that it really had been taken care of during its absence from his side. It gleamed brightly in the light of the street lamp, revealing no noticeable nicks. His heart remained settled at what he was about to do. It probably also helped that he finally got a lock on the twins location. He texted the location to his son, knowing that he and the girls would get the twins home while he dealt with the ex. He sheathed the sword, before he hid it beneath his duster. A run through of his hair made sure everything lay as it should. He wanted to make sure that Gerd had no reason to doubt his intentions. She liked to think that she had him under her thumb, but she had no idea what he had done for her over the years, how much he allowed her to think he would let her take the lead in their marriage.
