“No,
I’ll bring it in for you. It would be my pleasure.” The woman practically
purred the word pleasure and Jenna had to roll her eyes.

“Thanks,
but I got it.” Gideon spoke more sharply and either he didn’t want the woman at
the door to know about Jenna or he was being sweet and protecting her modesty.
For whatever reason, she hoped that it was the latter.

“Do
you still have my number?” A serious come on, of that there was no doubt in her
mind.

“Yes,
you programmed it into my phone,” Gideon said. Jenna felt a stab of what she
could only describe as jealousy, which was crazy since she didn’t even know the
guy.

“Good.
Are you going to use it?”

Jenna
could make out Gideon’s silhouette and could see that he was shaking his head.
“I am grateful for your interest and thankful for all of your help. I’m not
looking for a female but thank you for your interest.”

Again
with that strange way of talking. It certainly piqued her interest. Who was
this guy?

The
woman at the door giggled. It was breathy and seductive. It irritated the hell
out of Jenna.

“Look,
I’m not looking for a boyfriend or anything. If you’re feeling a little lonely
and want to hook up…call me.”

“Let
me get that tray.” Jenna noted with satisfaction how Gideon ignored the
invitation to hook up.

“I’ll
bring it in for you.” Silky smooth. Gideon was pretty much shoved aside as the
large tray was wheeled in. The woman looked to be in her early twenties, so a
couple years younger than Jenna. Dressed in a stylish suit, she was tall and
athletically built. Her rich auburn hair was pulled into a ponytail. Her large
brown eyes rounded in surprise as they landed on Jenna.
They instantly narrowed as they took in Jenna’s barely dressed attire. She
resisted the urge to push out her chest. The woman’s full, glossy lips pursed
together for a few seconds. “I can see that you’re busy. I’ll come back another
time and we can finish this conversation.” She threw Jenna a dirty look before
smiling at Gideon.

He
pulled the door open, standing to the side.

“Don’t
hesitate to call should you require anything…and I mean anything.” She licked
her lips, giving Gideon the once over with her eyes. “You have my number.” She
purred as she walked out of the suite.

What
a complete skank! The nerve. She could understand how the woman had flirted
initially, but have a little respect. For all intents and purposes it had
looked like Jenna had just spent the night with Gideon.

He
shut the door. “We have food.” He said as he turned towards her, a grin adorned
his face. “Take a seat.” He gestured to the edge of the bed, wheeling the tray
in her direction.

She
could smell bacon and her stomach rumbled. There was a pot of coffee and a big pitcher
of orange juice. Her mouth watered.

“I’m
sorry about that.” Jenna said as she sat down on the bed as Gideon had
instructed, keeping the sheet around her hips. “I didn’t mean to rain on your
parade.” She kept her eyes on the food.

He
immediately frowned. “Rain on my what? It’s perfectly sunny weather.” Before
she could respond to his weird remark, he continued. “What is it that you are
sorry about?”

“I
don’t know…um…she was into you. You didn’t have to pretend that you weren’t
interested just for me. It’s not like there’s anything between us anyway.”

His
eyes actually seemed to darken. Gideon shook his head. “I’m not interested in
her. I have been staying here for two days, could’ve rutted her at least a
dozen times by now. I haven’t. She is not my type.”

Rutted…okay.
She felt her brow knit. Gideon distracted her by pulling the lids off of the
trays. Wow! He must be really hungry. Then again, he was a big guy. There was
sausage, bacon, and eggs with all the trimmings. As well as pancakes, waffles,
fresh fruit and yogurt. It was quite a spread.

Hang
on just a minute. Gideon just said that he wasn’t into the woman who had
delivered the food even though she was really beautiful. Rude but sexy none the
less. “She was really into you and very pretty. With a body like that, I’m sure
she spends at least an hour or two in the gym every day. Most guys would want
to date a girl like her” Now that Jenna was single again, she really needed to
work on getting more fit.

Gideon
smiled and shook his head. “I prefer a female with more curves.” It was
probably just her imagination but his gaze dropped down to her lips for the
barest second before returning to lock with hers. His body seemed to tighten,
his jaw tensed up. He had a hungry look that didn’t seem to have anything to do
with the food. “Besides, her scent does not attract me.” It definitely wasn’t
her imagination when his nostrils flared like he was sniffing the room. Weird!

Jenna
raised her brows. “Her scent? Seriously? You do realize that she can just buy
another perfume if you don’t like the one she’s wearing, right? You shouldn’t
let such an insignificant thing put you off.” Why did she even care? If
anything, she felt relief that he didn’t want the other woman. Not that it
mattered or anything. Not really.

Gideon
chuckled. “Perfume has nothing to do with it. As far as I’m concerned, females
should not be allowed to wear perfume…ever.”

“There
you go again…” She could feel that her frown deepened. “What is it with the
whole male, female thing? Although you don’t have an accent, I can tell that
you’re not from around here. You say strange things sometimes.”

“You
don’t remember our little chat last night?” He frowned, his brows knitted.

“What
chat?” Jenna poured herself a glass of juice and took a big gulp.

“You
were pretty out of it when we got to my hotel room but we did talk a little bit
while I was undressing you.” He smiled and she had to swallow thickly. The man
was just that fine. The thought of him pealing her clothes off did strange
things to her. She should be grossed out by it but she wasn’t. Far from it.

“What
did we talk about?” Jenna said when she finally found her voice.

“Eat.”
He looked down at the spread in front of her as he spoke, and her stomach
growled once again.

Jenna
helped herself to some of the food. “What about you? Aren’t you hungry?”

“I’ll
have something just not right now.”

She
nodded. “So what did we speak about? Don’t think you can change the subject
like that.” Jenna took a bite of her scrambled eggs.

Gideon’s
eyes twinkled in amusement. His kissable, edible looking lips pulled up at the
corners. Next, she took a bite of her bacon and she had to suppress a groan.

“You
tried to seduce me.” His voice had a growly edge. “You got the wrong idea when
I was undressing you.” He must have seen her eyes bug out. “Don’t worry, Jenna,
nothing happened.”

She
half choked on the food as the first bite went down. “Oh no!” She finally
sputtered, taking another gulp of her juice. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean it. I
was just really drunk. I would normally never do such a thing. Don’t get me
wrong, it’s not that I don’t find you attractive
because I do…” She sucked in a deep breath, realizing what she’d just said.
“I mean, even though you are pretty attractive…it’s not something I would
normally do.” She clamped her mouth closed to shut herself up.

His
eyes crinkled at the edges. “If you had not been under the influence of alcohol
I would most definitely have taken you up on your offer.” His nostrils flared
as he sucked in a deep breath. “Sugar and spice and all things nice…you are
very attractive to me too.”

“I
don’t get the whole sugar and spice thing… I’m not wearing any perfume. I
forgot to put any on.”

“It
is your own unique scent and not something which comes out of a bottle.” He
grinned. “Although, you do still smell of your stomach contents. It’s
underlying so not overpowering.”

“Oh
shit. Do I?” She felt mortified. Jenna sniffed at herself but couldn’t detect
any hint of vomit smell. Ground, please swallow me now.

“You
still scent mildly of alcohol and arousal as well…” His voice definitely
deepened into a gravelly baritone as he said the word arousal.

“How
the hell can you smell arousal on me? It’s impossible. Even if I was
aroused…and I’m not.” She said putting as much emphasis into the word as she
could. “You wouldn’t be able to smell it. That’s just downright crazy.”

“Call
it crazy if it makes you feel better.” Gideon walked over to his closet,
pulling at the towel around his hips. It fell to the floor at his feet.

Jenna’s
mouth fell open and she had to force herself to snap it shut. He had just about
the best body she had ever seen. Scratch that, he definitely had the best body
she had ever seen. This included all the celebrities on television. His ass was
a vision. She could just imagine grabbing onto it as he pounded into her.

Don’t
go there.

“Call
me crazy but…you’re heavily aroused again. Just admit that you like looking at
my naked body.” He turned around, giving her an outstanding view of his
engorged cock. His eyes glinted with humor and he folded his arms across his
magnificent chest.

“What
does that have to do with anything?” She dropped her piece of bacon back onto
the plate. “I’ve already told you that I think you are attractive. What is it
that you spoke to me about last night? How in the hell can you smell that I’m
heavily aroused?”

She
could see him suck in a deep breath in preparation to answer her.

“Before
you say anything, please put some clothes on.” Her voice sounded a little
shrill. “We can’t have any type of serious discussion with that”—she pointed at
his cock—“pointing at me.”

“I’m
sorry…I guess I forgot how timid humans can be.” He pulled a pair of jeans out
of the closet and proceeded to step into them.

Her
whole body prickled with the realization. The strange way of talking. His
beyond normal good looks. It all fell into place. Her heart rate picked up and
she licked her lips before swallowing thickly. “You’re not human. Shit! I
should’ve guessed.” Her eyes flashed to him. It was crazy, but he somehow
looked even more attractive in a pair of old jeans. Then again, the buttons
were still mostly undone and his thick cock was still visible.

Gideon
smiled broadly, flashing deadly looking fangs.

Oh
fuck! How had she missed those?

Although
her heart raced, she didn’t feel afraid. “Which one of the species are you?
Since you don’t have pointy ears I’m going to rule out elf.”

His
face took on a disgusted look. “No, I’m not a dress wearing pussy. That’s for
fucking sure.”

“That
leaves shifter or vampire.”

He
smiled, looking feral. There was a wild glint in his eyes that she hadn’t
noticed before. No wonder he was so damn good-looking. His growly voice and
sheer size was starting to make sense. It irritated her when he didn’t answer.
“So…”

“So…”
He raised his brows.

“Which
is it then? Do you drink blood? Or howl at the moon?” Her voice had turned a
little soft and timid. There was a part of her that was afraid to know. What if
he was a bloodsucker? Would he want to suck her blood?

She
was appalled to find that the thought didn’t scare her half as much as what it
should have.

Gideon
repositioned his cock and tried to do up the clasps on his jeans, finally
giving up. “Your scent is fucking killing me.”

“What
is that supposed to mean?” Her voice shook a little.

“I’m
a vampire.” He growled, his eyes seemed to glow.

“Oh.”
She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. “I take it that you can smell my
blood...is that what’s driving you crazy? You’re not going to hurt me are you?”
She swallowed hard. The funny thing was, although she should be running from
the room, screaming. She still wasn’t afraid. She was the one that was crazy.

Gideon
shook his head. “I’m talking about the scent of your arousal. Your pussy smells
fucking delicious…”

She
gasped, putting a hand to her chest. “You didn’t just say that.”

“What?”
His eyes glinted in humor. “That your pussy smells like heaven? And no,
although I wouldn’t mind making you scream…” His eyes were definitely glowing.
“They would be screams of pleasure…I assure you.” Gideon took a step towards
her. “I won’t lie though…it is definitely the scent of your pussy that is
killing me, I wouldn’t mind a taste of your blood as well. Sugar and spice and
all things nice…” He shook his head. Then he took to looking quizzical, even
cocking his head to the side. “I can’t scent any fear.” His nostrils flared
again. “If anything, I would say that I’ve just made you more aroused by my
statements. Most humans would have left by now or called security or both. Yet
here you still are. I had heard that humans could be timid and that as a
species you’re not so open about sex.”
