“Well, just who the hell are you? No worries; I will find out.” I said to know one in particular. Now, it all made sense. That was the reason he was wanting to leave, because he had started fucking around with some new chick. It was never because I wasn’t a good wife. It was because that nigga found a piece of pussy elsewhere. I don’t know what the fuck he thought this was, but I wasn’t about to be playing with that nigga. I called him so many times after I saw that damn post, I lost count. Although the post was a few days old, I still wanted to know who this bitch was talking about date night with my damn husband. If I couldn’t have his ass, nobody would; he had life fucked up. I was livid after seeing that shit. I decided to be petty and like the status since he wouldn’t be a man and answer the phone so that we could talk about it. Even after doing that, I still didn’t feel satisfied, so I made another call. After that call, I was great, but this wasn’t over between Renzo and I. He was playing around, and I was just getting started.

Chapter 15

Renzo

Renee was like a breath of fresh air. It had been almost three months since we met and not a day went by that I didn’t talk to her. We never went longer than a day or two without seeing one another. We had this really stupid chemistry; we hadn’t even had sex yet, but with her, I felt like I was on cloud nine. It could’ve happened, but our connection was so much deeper that we didn’t need that to be who we were. When I got it though, I wasn’t cutting her ass no slack. She was going to get the BIZ, but she said she wanted to take things one day at a time, so that’s what we were doing.

Like I said, things with Jessa and I were over, but I felt bad holding that from Renee. She had never lied to me when it came down to her past, so keeping this from her was bothering me a little. Every time I tried to talk to Gucci about it, he would say just live in the moment, and when the time was right, tell her, but I was feeling like the time would never be right, and now feelings were involved. Renee was completely different from Jessa. Renee was hardworking, caring, compassionate, and loving, whereas Jessa was rude, stuck-up, self-centered, lazy as shit, and spoiled. Jessa was so fucking lazy that she had packed up our child and sent her to my mother. What type of shit was that?

“You have any plans for the weekend.” Gisele said, interrupting my thoughts.

“I’m not sure. Renee was saying something about the Riverwalk in San Antonio, but momma said she was going to ride to make a drop with dad this weekend, so I need to get Raven, because you know Jessa not about to take care of her.” I said.

“Maybe you should take her out there. You need to tell her the truth Renzo, and let her decide if it’s something she’s willing to deal with or not. I feel like you are being a little selfish by trying to make the choice for her. I’ll keep Raven, but you have to promise to tell her the truth. I like her, but I feel like she has been through enough, and I don’t really want you adding to that.” She said.

Gisele and Renee had met about a month ago. I had gotten me an apartment off of 290 and 1960 right around the corner from my boy Gucci and Renee had came and spent the night one night. I went to Shipley’s to grab us some donuts, and I had completely forgotten that my sister told me she was stopping by to drop off some paperwork. It wasn’t until I got the phone call did I remember that she was coming.

“So when was you going to tell me about Renee, nigga?”

“Oh shit, I forgot all about you coming by. I’ll be there in a minute.” I said.

“I left it with her. I actually like chick.” She said laughing. “She seems like a perfect fit for you. She know about Jessa?” She asked. I hadn’t gotten around to telling her. Hell, it just never felt like the right time but I would.

“Well, seeing as how you don’t want to answer my question, I already know the answer, but your playing with fire baby brother. Tell that girl the truth and go from there. All of this happened before her, so if she’s feeling you like I think she is, she will accept that and move forward.” My sister preached. That shit was just easier said than done. I didn’t know how to tell her I was feeling her and wanted to go a step further, but I was waiting for my divorce to be finalized before we could make anything happen.

“Thanks sis. I owe you.”

“Yea, yea. How about you leave some money with me, because you know good and well your daughter be making wells run dry.” She said. I knew her ass wasn’t kidding though. “You have that little girl thinking she’s Queen Elizabeth or some shit.” she said. I had to laugh at that, because Raven was definitely a little diva in the making, but I wasn’t the cause of that shit. All of their asses spoiled her just as much as I did, so I didn’t know what the hell she was talking about.

“I got you. Are we done here?” I asked. I was tired of sitting around this damn office. I wanted to take Renee out to eat tonight. I knew Monday’s were her worst day of the week, so whatever I could do to ease her mind, I wanted to try to do it. That was the thing about her; she never asked me to do shit. That’s why I enjoyed making things happen for her. She would say, “oh, I want to do this, oh I like that,” and when I surprised her with it, she would always be so excited. Renee appreciated the little things, which made me appreciate her, but I couldn’t help but feel bad about keeping a part of my life away from her.

“Nah, we good here. All the drivers are either on a run or on their way back. We are free to go. Today was a smooth day; I hope the rest of the week is the same.” She said. Gisele started packing her things so that she could leave as well, but before she left, I wanted to holler at her about something else real quick.

“Gisele, we need to do something about Marc. I think that nigga over there stressing momma out. When I go over there, I be wanting to whoop his motherfucking ass with that slick ass mouth that lil’ nigga got, but you know the damn cops would be over there so quick, and I don’t be wanting that shit in my life.”

“Yea, I don’t know what the fuck he has going on. If you asked me, momma just spoiled that lil’ nigga too much. I don’t know why he still staying over there. Everything he has momma gave to him. He’s damn near twenty-six, and he doesn’t have anything to show for it. He walks around like he’s mad about something. I don’t know what it is, but I do feel like we should get to the bottom of it, because I don’t want him to think that, whatever it is he’s going through, he has to go through alone.” She said. Gisele was always the voice of reason, and I admired my sister for that. She was very outspoken, and very nonchalant, but she always tried to keep the peace.

“Well, I guess whenever dad gets back, we should sit down with them and have a talk. I know dad probably doesn’t see it, because he’s always on the road, but I know momma sees the shit. It’s like that nigga just gave up on life or something. I don’t know, but anyway, let me get out of here. I want to take Renee out to eat, and I want to go home and change first.”

“Ok, I’ll see you tomorrow and remember you need to talk to her Renzo. Don’t let her hear that shit from someone else; you need to be the one to tell her, and you need to figure out what you gonna do about Jessa any damn way. I wish you would let me beat her ass one time.” Gisele said. I knew she was dead serious; she really couldn’t stand my wife. I would say soon-to-be ex-wife, but I don’t think she was getting ready to sign those papers anytime soon.

“I’m not doing shit with that bitch. I’ve already told her I’m done. I even had the paperwork sent that way, but she’s not budging. I don’t know what her issue is, but that’s not my damn concern. I’m going to tell her man. Damn.” I said. I grabbed my things, gave my sister a kiss on the cheek, and headed home to freshen up a little before tonight. Renee always had me eager to see her that was the craziest shit ever. I had been with my wife for some years, and never did I experience the type of feelings I experienced with Renee.

About three hours later, we were sitting at Boudreaux’s waiting for our food to be served. Renee was drinking a hurricane, and I was having the usual, a beer. I wasn’t really a drinker, so I would always grab a beer when she decided she needed something a little stronger.

“So how was your day?” she asked. I had zoned out, because I was trying to think of ways I should tell her about my situation.

“My day was cool, baby girl, how about yours?”

“You know that man worked my damn nerves today. He be having me do the craziest shit man. Today, he asked me to put the filing cabinet in alphabetical order, and when I did that, he came back and redid everything I had just done. I just went and sat my ass back down and browsed the web. I really need to be making some other types of moves.”

“Well, what do you want to do? You already selling hair, so why not take it a step further.” I said.

“Quit reading my mind.” She said, laughing. She said that quite often, because she claimed I stayed stealing her thoughts.

“I want to do a beauty bar. You know, a place ladies can come get their wigs split, get their lashes and eyebrows done, and nails and toes. I just want to create a one-stop shop for ladies. Just an idea.” she said. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” she said blushing. She blushed easy as hell.

“I think you should go for it. Have you looked into any places and stuff?”

“Well, I know the location that would attract the most people would be downtown, river oaks, and the Galleria area, but I haven’t done too much research. Man, you have to have money to make those types of moves. I need to save for at least another year, before I would be able to rent a spot to get the ball rolling. I was thinking I could let Daria come in and do some hair. I tell her all the time how she’s letting her talents go to waste, but she says she doesn’t want to work for anyone, so if I make her a partner, she won't be working for anyone but herself right?” she said. I nodded, which indicated that I agreed with her philosophy.

“Oh yeah, baby. I meant to tell you earlier, I had the weirdest shit happened. Some chick named Jessa shesmarriedtohim Waters was going through liking all the post that I tagged you in. I tried to go to her page, but by the time I did that, it seemed like the page was removed. Do you know who that might be?” she asked eyeing me. That would have been the perfect time to tell her, and I was, but then the waitress came over with the food, and I got distracted. So did she, I guess, because she didn’t bring it back up.

“Baby girl, do you want to ride to San Antonio this weekend? We can get us a room with a view of the Riverwalk or whatever you want to do. I was just thinking that, after a long week, we could do something different than the usual.”

“Aww yes, baby. That just made my night. I’m going to take off early on Friday so we can get there before night. Aww baby, thank you so much. You are the best.” She said. She stood up, and I met her across the table, because I already knew she wanted a kiss. We kissed and enjoyed the rest of our dinner. The entire time, I kept thinking about how I really needed to just tell her about Raven and Jessa, but she was talking a mile a minute about everything and telling me how excited she was. I really just didn’t want to ruin the moment, but I didn’t have a choice but to tell her this weekend, because like Gisele said, I didn’t want her hearing that shit from anyone else. That would make me seem like a liar and that I had never been. I just had a little situation at the moment.

“Baby, are you listening?”

“I’m sorry. What did you say baby girl?” I said.

“I was asking if I should stay at your house or were you staying at mines?”

“Oh, whatever you want to do is cool with me.” I said. It didn’t make me a difference either way.

“Well, we’re already by my place, so we can just stay there.” She said, getting up from the table. When she came back from the restroom, we walked outside. She came and gave me a hug, and it really felt like in my arms was where she was supposed to be.

“I’ll be there in a second. You can leave the door unlocked if you want; I need to stop and get some gas.”

“Ok, I need some, too, but I’ll stop in the morning.” She said.

“Don’t worry about it; just make sure you keep the keys somewhere visible, and I’ll handle that for you.” I said. We kissed, and she left. As soon as I got in the car, I called my boy Gucci.

“What you doing nigga?” I said, as soon as he answered the phone.

“Shit, at the shop. Getting ready to close up. What’s good?” he said. I sighed. For some reason, I felt guilty as hell about what I was doing. I really did like Renee, like I genuinely cared for her, but I honestly didn’t think she would stick around once I told her this. If the shoe was on the other foot, I would be gone. I wasn’t gonna sit around and deal with no fucking married woman, so how could I expect her to?

“I got a situation man.”

“No shit, nigga. You been having a situation. I already know what this about, so you don’t even have to tell me. You done went and fell for this chick when you still a married man. You gots to be by far the craziest nigga I know, but I can tell she makes you happy. You need to just be honest.”

“You and Gisele keep saying the same shit, but I don’t want my honesty to run her off.” I said.
