Finding him with two other Hunters I let out a sigh of relief.

My relief is cut short as I single shot rings out and Blue’s head whips back from the impact.

He had been shot.

7-Back to Reality

I
wake up with a gasp of breath and Rowan grabs hold of my face as I cry out in pain.

“Shhhh, Parker, it’s alright. It wasn’t real.” Rowan soothes.

I groan and rub my hands over my face.

It had felt so real.

Every time I had gone through this it had felt real.

“What was his name this time?” Rowan then asks gently.

He had stuck by my side through every one of these dreams or hallucinations. No matter what I always woke up to him waiting for me and then we would talk it all through.

“His name was Blue.” I sigh and close my eyes. “He was so much different than all of the others.”

“What do you mean?” Rowan asks curiously.

Looking to Rowan I bite my lip before answering him. “He was human, a Hunter. He had a scar through his eyebrow and he kept telling me that he wasn’t Gage. He kept telling me that he wasn’t him.”

“Wow, that’s deep. That’s way different than the other dreams you’ve had.” Rowan grunts.

I nod my head. “He still died the same way.” I add sadly.

Cupping his hand to my cheek Rowan looks deep into my eyes. “This will pass soon, Parker. It has to pass.”

“I just wish I wouldn’t have to relive his death over and over again. It hurts to feel these connections only to watch each one die. My heart can’t take much more.” I whimper.

“We’ll figure it all out.” Rowan promises.

I nod my head in agreement and then sigh roughly as I lie back on the bed and stare up at the ceiling.

“How long was I out this time?” I question changing the subject slightly.

“You were out for a week this time.” Rowan answers. “I was beginning to worry whether or not you were going to actually wake up.”

“I’m sorry, Rowan.” I whisper.

“Don’t be sorry, Parker. You know I’ll stay by your side no matter how long it takes to break this cycle.” Rowan reassures.

“Did Titus learn anything helpful while I was asleep?” I inquire.

He was our only hope.

From the moment that I had gotten lost in my first dream since Gage’s death he had been searching for a way to stop the bond from destroying me.

It was a rare case of course which made it difficult to figure out.

That was my luck though and until we figured out how to make it stop I was doomed to relieve these many different faces of Gage as they died.

The same thing happened nearly every time.

I would feel a connection to them, we would fall hard for each other and then there was always some sort of mission that we had to go on which always ended with their deaths.

Each time my mind broke and my heart shattered a little more.

“I’m not sure if he did or not, Parker. He’s been gone for awhile. He only just returned this morning and I didn’t have the chance to talk to him.” Rowan replies honestly.

I nod my head and move to get off of the bed.

Knowing my legs would give out on me I wait for Rowan to come around to the side to help me to stand and to help me move around Titus’s home.

We walk out of the room and we’re instantly greeted by members of his pack.

“It’s good to see you up, Parker.” One wolf grunts as he pats my shoulder and then moves down the hall.

Others grunt and smile in my direction.

A few of the female members take my hands in theirs and portray their emotions through their eyes.

There wasn’t anything that they could really say and even if they did say something I had no idea how I would have responded.

It was enough to know that I was being supported by them.

Slowly we make our way down to Titus’s office.

We walk in without knocking and Rowan sits me down in a chair on the other side of Titus’s desk while he sorts through boxes with his back turned to us.

I wait patiently for him to notice our presence.

After a few minutes Titus freezes and then turns quickly in his chair. His eyes light up seeing me sitting there.

“Why didn’t you say something, Parker?” He grunts as he stands from his chair and moves to pull me into an abrupt hug.

“How are you feeling?” He then asks as he helps me sit back down.

“I feel terrible, Titus. This last dream or whatever was a rough one.” I reply truthfully.

“She said this one was different than all the others.” Rowan chimes in as he perches himself on the edge of Titus’s desk.

“What was different?” Titus questions with a raised brow.

“It was a human Hunter this time. He had a distinct scar through his eyebrow and he kept telling me that he wasn’t Gage. He also fought our connection.” I reply.

“You didn’t mention that last part.” Rowan grunts.

“I didn’t think of it until now.” I sigh softly.

“That’s good news, Parker. This might be your way out of this bond.” Titus chimes in.

I look to him hopeful. “Do you really think so?”

He nods and grins. “It is but we need to track down this Hunter from your dream. What was his name, we can start there?”

“His name was Blue.” I reply.

Titus’s face pales and his smile fails.

“What, what’s wrong, Titus?” I question worried.

“He’s my son.” Titus blurts.

I nod. “You told me that in my dream.”

“I did?” He whispers and I nod again.

“Wait a minute, I’ve been a part of this pack since I was born and no one ever said that you had another son. Gage was your only son.” Rowan argues as he stands to his feet.

Titus sighs roughly as he pinches the bridge of his nose. “Gage was my only son who carried on the pack blood. I had another son a year before him that was purely human.”

His confession had my mind reeling.

“I never did keep up with what happened to him after he was born. I ran away from his mother and never looked back.” Titus then confesses.

“If he never knew this life then how did he become a Hunter?” Rowan asks.

“He might not technically be a Hunter. My dream might not be that accurate.” I reason.

“Either way I’m going to have to dig up anything that I can find.” Titus sighs.

I nod my head and look to Rowan. “We should go and see if Pops might know something.”

Rowan nods his head and then groans. “I would go with you but I need to see the pack and update them on what’s going on with you.”

I nod in understanding.

“London can travel with you.” Rowan then announces.

I groan and roll my eyes.

Like Rowan, London hadn’t left my side unless it was absolutely necessary.

And speaking of the devil he bursts into the room with us and grabs me into his arms before pressing his lips to mine.

Leaning back London grins brightly. “I missed you, Parker.”

I smile and remember back to my dream, of how we had been together. “I’d say that I missed you too but you were right by my side in my dream this time.”

London’s smile only grows.

“You didn’t mention that either.” Rowan grunts. “You’ve left a lot of information out of this last dream.”

“There’s a lot that happened within the dream, Rowan. Just trust that if there’s anything I need to tell you that I will, okay.” I reply.

He nods and looks to London. “She wants to talk with Pops. Can you go along with her while I update the pack on what’s happening?”

London nods. “I’ll watch out for our girl.” He agrees.

“You kids can go on, I’ll call you if I find anything new that we can use to our advantage, Parker. Just follow your gut and hopefully it will bring this heartbreak to an end for you.” Titus states.

I nod my head and allow London to lead me from the office and back to my room.

“What do you need me to pack for you?” Rowan asks as he begins moving around my room.

“You don’t have to pack for me, Rowan. I won’t need much.” I reply as I stand on my own feet without any help this time.

He rushes forward to help me but I hold up my hand to stop him. “I’ve got to do this on my own. I have to get my strength back.”

Rowan nods but doesn’t move.

“Go, Rowan, I’ll be fine.” I reassure him.

He nods once more and then shares a look with London before leaving us alone.

“He still doesn’t want to leave you for a moment, does he?” London chuckles as he sits down on the edge of my bed.

“No, he doesn’t. He’s just worried.” I reply as I slowly move around my room and pack a small bag.

“Do you need to bring anything with us?” I ask London.

He nods and stands to his feet before heading to the door.

Stopping with his hand on the handle he turns back to look at me. “Will you be alright by yourself for a few minutes?”

I smile and nod. “I’ll be just fine, London.”

He nods and then leaves the room.

Sighing softly I reach up and hold onto the vial that I had taken from Gage after his death. It made me feel slightly closer to him and it was the only thing that was constant between my dreams and reality.

Closing my eyes I take in a deep breath before letting it out slowly.

“I can do this.” I whisper.

I could go in search of a new possible mate to break this bond before it killed me.

Part of me wanted to die though to be honest.

If I died then I would be with Gage again.

That wasn’t going to happen though. I had too many people counting on me to stay alive and to remain strong.

They needed me.

A
re you ready to go?” London questions as he peeks into the room.

I nod and toss my bag onto the bed. “I left room for your stuff.”

London grins and quickly places his things into my bag before lifting it up for me to place my arms through it.

Slipping my arms through the straps I then turn to face London. I press my hands against his chest as I look deep into his eyes. “I do love you, London. No matter what happens you will always have a piece of my heart.”
