“You have a sister?” I asked, oh yeah, I remember now...

“Trust me, you don’t want to run into her. Leave now.” He ordered and hung up.

I looked at Turner, “Do you have an RV?”

“He knows I do. This is too dangerous for you if he wants me to take the RV. It’s like a tank, almost bullet-proof, but I can’t risk you. Stay here.”

“Fuck that.” I barely escaped his reach. “Oh no you don’t.” I ran to the bathroom to start a shower. “Slider says we have to go now. There’s no time to argue.” I told him when he joined me.

“I’m not arguing about this Peach, you’re staying here where I know you’re safe.”

“Nope, not going to happen.” I declared. “You can leave me here, but I know my way down. I will follow you.”

He gave me a dirty look. “I’ll chain you to the house.”

I laughed, “And I’ll charm Mrs. Henderson into letting me out five minutes after you leave.”

He looked at me for a couple seconds, “Yes, I can imagine you would.”

“Just give me a gun or two, I’ll be fine.”

“The RV is loaded. If anything happens to you I’ll lose my fucking mind.”

“Ditto. Now turn around so I can get your back.”

He turned, “How is it you’re bossing me around now?”

“Easy, I have the pussy.” I laughed and smacked his butt.

He groaned and leaned his head back, “Ah yes, and a sweet one it is.”

He called a helicopter to pick us up and hour later. My first helicopter ride, and I got to sit up front. Turner’s weight forces him to the back, according to the pilot, unless he’s the one piloting. Turner can fly? I’ll have to ask him about that later.

An hour or so after that he opened the garage door of a random storage unit and revealed his RV.

I shook my head as he climbed in and started it up to pull it outside. “Holy shit.” I laughed as the beast rolled out. It’s big, like Turner. Everything is big with this guy. Sheesh.

He waved me around to get in the passenger side and waved off the driver who brought us here in a large SUV. Nobody spoke to each other, so I don’t know names. Everything just kind of happens around Turner. Nobody asks questions. It’s weird.

Now that we’re alone I asked him, “How did the pilot and driver know what to do?”

“I texted them when we got out of the shower.”

“OH. Duh.” I laughed at myself.

“Can you drive this rig?” He asked fishing for something under the seat.

“Probably.” I’ve driven RV’s before, but not this big.

“Good, when I get her on the freeway you can take over.” He pulled a big black box from under his seat and held it out for me. “Take this.”

I got up and pulled it into my lap. “What’s this?”

“Your gun. Make sure you’re ready to obliterate anything you shoot, those are special bullets in that baby.”

I opened the case, “Nice. It’s big.” It’s a huge revolver, to most it looks like a .45, but I know it’s a .50.

“It’ll kick the shit out of your arms. I want you well protected since you don’t follow orders.” He scolded me.

“You need to eat.” I suddenly remembered he hasn’t eaten in a while. We’ve only lived together a little over a week, but I’ve seen him crash from lack of sustenance.

“I know.” He looks annoyed. “Come take the wheel. I need to do a few things before we can stop.”

I slid in and took over as he got up. I wish I could have stolen a kiss along the way, but he’s focused.

“Eight million dollar rig and he’s got me playing taxi in enemy territory.” He complained going to the back.

“Eight million dollars???” I asked over my shoulder.

“Give or take.” He’s lifting seats and pulling out guns and some other shit I can’t tell what is.

“What’s your sister’s name?” I asked checking my speed against the sign.

“Evil, pure evil. Don’t worry about her, just drive.” He’s back in bossy mode.

I let my mind wander to a couple hours ago when he was blissfully inside me and smiling. I miss that Turner, but then again, this one is pretty sexy too.

Finally he came up and sat in the passenger seat. “Lou and I have run jobs together before. We communicate using sign language, or our version there of. The rules still apply, do not speak to him, or whoever he’s in charge of, unless I tell you.”

I laughed. “Nice try Turner, but forget it.”

“Forget what? You still have to obey me woman.” He put a gun under the seat.

“We’ll see.”

“Georgia.” He said with warning.

I glanced at him and smiled, “What?”

“You do what I tell you.”

“You can’t spank me while I’m driving.” I informed him.

“Pull over, now.” He ordered.

I laughed and shook my head, “No way baby.”

He got up and kissed the top of my head, “You’re a brat. Find a Burger King and stop there. I won’t spank you because I know you’re smart enough to do what I tell you. Besides, you’re cute when you’re defiant.”

I looked in the mirror as he went to the back to open cabinets and work a safe. “What’s in there?”

“Just some cash. Are you going to be able to navigate this thing off the freeway?”

“If not I’ll stop and you can take over. You’re really not going to spank me?” I was almost disappointed.

“Not right now. I get the feeling you’ll accumulate quite a few by the time I get around to it.” He assured me and stuffed a wad of cash in my purse. “If we get separated for any reason I want you to go immediately back to the house in Colorado. There’s a map in with the money.”

“Okay, I guess. I don’t want us to get separated, somebody has to cover your back, might as well be an award-winning markswoman.” I teased.

“That is a plus.” He said absently looking around now.

“What are you looking for?”

“I forgot where I put the panel.”

“The what?” He’s so ruggedly beautiful. Blonde hair and blue eyes, there’s nothing ordinary about this man.

“Panel.” He’s running his hands alone the walls. “Shit. I hate it when I hide things from myself.”

I laughed, “You are so funny sometimes.”

“It’s not funny, I need this shit.” He’s tapping and touching everything. “Fuck, fuck, fuck. Ah-ha. Got it.” He smacked something and the table started lifting straight up and flipped so the bottom was facing Turner like giant TV screen.

“What the hell is that?”

“Control panel. I have a thing for technology. My brother Joe knows some seriously talented people. Took us a year to design this bitch. Then I had to spend three months in Afghanistan with that fucker.”

“You did? When?”

“About three years ago I guess. He needed extra muscle for a job. Nobody knew I was there. Call it back-up if you want.” He shrugged. “We met when we could and worked on the CPU for this puppy. His friends took it from there and designed the rig around the capabilities of the computer.”

“Damn, that’s cool.”

“Agreed.” He’s busy pushing buttons and I got a flashback to Robert Downy Jr. in Ironman. All Turner needs is a haircut and an iron suit.

He caught me looking at him in the mirror, “Eyes on the road baby.”

“Okay okay, sheesh.” I caught a Burger King sign a few minutes later.

He took over driving after that. I took a nap on the couch. When I woke up it was because he was calling my name, “Georgia, wake up love.”

I groaned and stretched, “No.”

“Up you go baby, I gotta pee and you need to take over. Lou texted me, we need to keep moving to get him out of there as soon as possible, so no stopping.” He explained.

I got up and went to him, “Okay, go.”

“You go first, hurry up.” He smacked my butt.

“Good idea.” Now that he mentioned it, I do have to pee.

When I got back I stole a kiss this time as I took over.

He copped a feel under my shirt, “Behave. It wouldn’t take much to sit back under you and have you ride me while you drive.” He threatened.

My goodies smiled, Somebody talking to us? Shut up and go away. I laughed at myself and looked in the mirror. “You should eat and sleep.”

“I know, don’t nag.” He pulled out one of the four salads I’d gotten at Burger King.

“I thought old ladies were supposed to nag their old men. In fact, I think it’s in writing somewhere.”

“Want a burger?” He offered heating one up for himself.

“Yes, please.” I can’t stop looking at him in the mirror.

“Eyes on the road baby.” He caught me, again.

“I can’t help it. This domestic side of you is really hot.”

“Keep it up.” He handed me a burger and kissed the top of my head. “ I’m going to sleep for a bit.”

“Okay.”

“Stay on this road, don’t pull over unless you wake me up first.”

“No problem. Sleep good.” I thought he was going to go in the back, but instead he ate that burger in two bites and sat down with his back to the back of the front passenger seat and pulled his knees up to rest his arms on. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes.

“Turner?”

“Hmm.”

“Why don’t you go lay down in the back?”

“Too far. You can put the radio on if you want.”

“Too far from me, or the front?”

“Hush baby.” He said softly and I swear he flipped an internal switch that shut him down. I wish I could sleep like that.

I found a Classic Vinyl station and sat back wishing I’d gotten something to drink earlier. I looked down. Cool, he left some tea in the cup for me. It’s watered down, but it did the trick.

Turner started talking in his sleep a while later. At first I thought he was talking to me, but he wasn’t making any sense. I still can’t figure out what he’s saying.

It didn’t look like the violent nightmare from before so I reached over and put my hand on his elbow, “Wake up sweetie.”

He was instantly awake and blinking. “What time is it?”

“Time for me to take a pee break.”

He got up and took the wheel as I set the cruise control. “Go.” He sounds like he’s on autopilot.

I all but ran to the back to relieve myself.

When I got back he said, “I’m going to stop for real food, this fast food is making me sick.”

“Okay. If you stop at a grocery store I’ll run in.” I offered.

“No, you don’t go anywhere without me until this shit with Lou is done.”

Shopping with Turner was an experience. He bulldozes his way past, through, and around people like they’re not even there. I just followed in his wake tossing things in the cart.

I tried to take the cart from him so nobody got impaled, but I got a dirty look that made some lady gasp and shoot him a dirty look.

I rolled my eyes and kept shopping.

Five hundred dollars and an hour later we were back in the RV. I made him a couple sandwiches before going about putting things away.

“When you finish there I want you to pull up the control panel. I’m going to run some tests, you can help.” He said between bites.

“How does it open again?”

“Push the wall to the left of the window, you’ll feel it give before you see it.”

I rushed through putting the stuff away so I could get to that control panel. I wonder what this thing can do.

I felt around on the wall and sure enough it dented in a little like a car would if you leaned into it too hard. The table silently slid up into place.

“Have a seat Peach.” Turner said flipping a switch under the dash. “Activate voice command.”

A female computer voice replied. “Voice command ready.”

“Add new user, Georgia Pine.”

“Georgia Pine.” She repeated. “Please proceed.”

“Georgia, say hello to Daisy.”

“Hello Daisy?” I said too loud.

“Georgia Pine saved. Nice to meet you Miss Pine.” She replied.

“Whoa. That is so cool.” I feel like I’m dreaming.

“Yes, she is. Daisy?”

“Yes Master?” She replied and I fell out of my chair.

“Reprogram user ID Turner Alpha Omega six one six.”

“What shall I call you?” She asked.

“Turner.”

“Yes sir. What else can I do for you today?” She asked.

“Master!!” I’m dying on the floor. My gut hurts I’m laughing so hard.

“Oh shut up, I was bored.” He complained. “Joe thought it was funny too.”

“Oh my God, I can’t breathe.”

“Shall I call Emergency services Turner?” Daisy asked.

“No Daisy. Run basic diagnostics and let me know when it’s complete. Maintain radio silence until then. Georgia, get your beautiful little ass off my floor and get up here.” He’s almost amused as he scolds with his eyes.

“Master.” Is suddenly the funniest word in the English language.

“Now look…” He warned trying not to smile.

I crawled over and looked up at him like a homeless puppy, “Master?”

“What?”

“Kiss me?”

He pulled me into his lap. “No kissing for you. Laugh at me.” He scolded keeping his eyes on the road.

I snuggled into him. “How much longer?”

“We’re about to cross the Mississippi now. This is my sister’s territory. We don’t get along, at all. I’m not going to wear my cut until we get home.”

“Is that allowed?”

“It is when you’re on a job under cover.” He clarified.

“Why don’t you get along with your sister?”

“She’s meaner than all us brothers put together. The woman has no soul.” He shivered.

“When was the last time you saw her?”

“Ten years ago or so. She tried to kill me.”

“For what?”

“I stole her car.”

“Why?”

“To piss her off. It’s a long story.”

“I have nothing but time my love.” Oops, I meant to echo his words, but not those ones.

“I thought you didn’t believe in love.”

“I don’t, I was using your words. Don’t change the subject, tell me about her.”

He sighed, “Bull disowned her when she was ten.”

“He did?”

“Yup. Banished her to a foster family on his payroll in upstate New York somewhere. The family disappeared one day when she was fifteen. Then she disappeared. Ten years later she reared her ugly head at a rally with some kind of crazy underground army she’d built up.”

“Sounds like a good movie.”

“No, it was a bloody mess. She drew the line in the sand using this river. Slider had no problem leaving the east to her since he never cared for anything east anyway. I like to go back and fuck with her.”

“So, you stole her car just to piss her off, but you haven’t been back in ten years?”

“Oh no, I’ve been back, I just don’t see her. Last year I took all the petcocks out of her bikes, then bought up every one for a hundred miles. The day she was supposed to get an order of them I intercepted it. She couldn’t ride for a week.”

“Turner, that’s cold.”

He shrugged, “She’s a bitch, she deserves it. Besides, it keeps us out of trouble. She likes to fight too, so if we don’t have something to deal with we fight and end up all fucked up. It’s the only thing we have in common.”

“Common? As your sister?”

He swallowed, “Common, as my twin.”

My eyes bugged out of my head, “Oh my God. Your poor mother.”

“Yup. Mom actually had us early, almost too early. She says I got the good and she got the bad.”

“What’s her name?”

“Her given name is Chardonnay, but nobody calls her that. Most people just call her Pres. since that what she is over here.”

“Chardonnay and Turner?? Was your mom high?”

He laughed, “Most likely, yes. Actually she said she was so afraid we weren’t going to make it that she sat between us in the hospital with a bottle of chardonnay for when it went either way. She didn’t know if she was going to need it to celebrate or cry over.

“Then I turned my head and she dropped the bottle. Chardonnay jumped when the glass shattered. Hence, Turner and Chardonnay.”

“Sounds romantic.”

He shrugged, “Maybe it is, I wouldn’t know.”

“Thank you for telling me.”

“I only told you because we’re in her territory, she’s very dangerous, and I antagonize her.”

“She tried to kill you?” I remembered.

“Yes, but I doubt it was a serious attempt. We kind of enjoy our banter, in our own way. She is my twin, I’m probably the only one that understands how she thinks. It’s a tug of war to hate and love someone.”

“So you do understand what love is.” It surprised me.

“Yes. I have a very clear understanding of love.” He pretended to try and bite me. “It’s you who needs educating.”

“I just always thought it was something people told each other to make themselves feel better, to establish the dynamic of the relationship.”

“And there’s my beautiful lawyer.” He tucked me closer. “You really need some clothes.” He rolled his eyes.

“What? You don’t like gas station fem fatale?” I took my shirt off.

“Peach, it’s broad daylight.”

“Yeah, but nobody is around. Eyes on the road Turner.” I ordered untucking his shirt.

He pulled it off quickly. “What are you doing?”

“What I wanted to do before we were so rudely interrupted.”

“No, not like this. I don’t want a car to pull up and see you coming in my lap.”

“Cars can’t see.” I snuggled against him and inhaled, “You smell so good.”

He looked down. “You’re sleeping?”

“No, just wallowing. Shh. I can hear your heartbeat.”

He laughed and ran his thumb over my left nipple. “I don’t like the idea of you being half naked up here for anyone to see.”

“I’m not naked, I have crazy ugly gym shorts on.” I argued.

“The first chance we get I’m taking you shopping.”

“No way. I’m never shopping with you again.”

“Well then you better marry me so I can give you a credit card.”

“I don’t need your money Turner. I can buy my own clothes.”

“No, you spend my money. The only time you spend your money is if you feel some obligation to buy gifts or some shit you don’t want me to know about. Otherwise, you spend my money. I have entirely too much.”
