It didn’t take me long to pour her a glass of wine and move to the back where we couldn’t be over heard.

She sat on the edge of the bed and crossed her legs. “That man is insufferable. Do you know he insists on sleeping with me?? Not just with me, on me. I can’t breathe!” She put her hand to her chest.

I laughed and sat on the end of the bed to see if we can get a signal on the TV. “I know the feeling. I wake up every morning with a giant tree sprawled out on top of me.”

“At least you want to be with Turner. I can’t wait to get away from Lou. How did you two meet anyway?” She asked looking too polite and clean.

“He kind of kidnapped me.” I laughed.

“What?? You don’t look like a hostage.”

“No, I’m not sure I ever was, although I felt like it at first, still do sometimes. He can be a little much. If he gives me dirty look, or gets a little mean, just ignore it. He doesn’t scare me anymore.”

“He scares the begeezus out of me.” She sipped her wine and looked around. “Nice RV.”

“Yeah, it’s pretty fancy. Turner and I have really only been together a couple weeks, give or take, so I’m still learning. He tends to surprise me.”

“Only a couple weeks and you’re living together?” She was shocked.

I laughed, “Looks that way. Like I said, he didn’t give me much choice, but he grew on me.”

“What happen when you tried to leave?”

“I don’t think I ever seriously tried to leave him. I thought about it a few times, but never got around to it. He said if I wanted to leave after the first week he’d take me home, but never allow me to date or be with anyone else.”

“Wow. He doesn’t mess around does he?”

“No, Turner is very blunt. He’s a good man though Barbara, he’d never hurt me.” Not really anyway. Even when he pulled my hair it didn’t hurt, he just doesn’t do gentle. I don’t think he knows how.

“That’s good to know. You look at him like you have hearts in your eyes. Do you love him?”

“If I believed in love I might. He claims I do, so whatever.” I shrugged finding a movie on DVD instead.

“He told you you love him?”

“Yup, made me say it and everything.” I jumped when a loud thud collided with the back of the truck. “What was that??”

Another thud and Barb the Blur was armed and handing me a gun, “I think we’re being shot at.”

Lou was back there grabbing at her to get away from the window. “What are you stupid?? GET DOWN!!”

She shoved him off and punched the screen out of the window. I did the same thing in the living room.

Turner is driving and pushing buttons up front.

By the time Barb The Blur ducked back inside I just looked at her. “You’re a great shot.”

“I know, bodyguards make great teachers.” She popped the clip out of the Glock.

“My dad taught me.” I added impressed. Her and I make a good team. Nice.

“You’re both in deep shit.” Lou complained going back up front. “Let’s get this thing off the road so I can spank a southern twit.”

She leaned over and smacked him in the back of the head, “I am not a twit.”

He spun around in his seat and pulled her hard into his lap. He locked his fingers on her jaw like I’ve felt Turner do to me. “You could have been killed. Next time you get down, don’t lean out the damn window and shoot back!”

“Unhand me you neanderthal.” She squirmed as Turner snapped his fingers to get my attention.

I shook my head, “Oh hell no.” I ran to the back as he slammed on the brakes. “Shit, shit, shit.” I tried to lock the bedroom door, but he was already through it slamming it shut.

He grabbed me and sat hard sat with me across his lap. Luckily he let me keep my jeans on to soften the blows. I bit my arm to keep from crying out.

When he finished he got up and threw me back on the bed. He gave me a stern pointing to and left slamming the door behind him. I felt the RV moving again as tears formed in my eyes.

Barb stuck her head in a minute later, “You okay?”

“Yeah, I think I scared him. He’s not usually that intense.”

She handed me a fresh glass of wine. “It’ll be okay. Here.”

“Thanks.”

“Did he hurt you?”

“Not really, it just stings a little.”

“If it makes you feel any better Lou hit his head when Turner stopped like that.” She smiled and took my hand. “Come on back up front before Turner crashes this thing.”

“What?”

“He’s burning a hole through this door looking for you.”

I laughed, “I thought he was locking me in here.”

Lou looked over his shoulder at us, “You’re next Barbie. Now sit down and buckle up, we’re going off-road.”

“Great.” I complained because my ass still hurts.

Turner is trying to look at me in the mirror but I put my back to him. Big jerk.

I have no idea where we are, but it’s a damn bumpy ride. Lou took over after a while so Turner took me to the back and shut the bedroom door.

He lifted my chin, “Don’t ever do that to me again.”

I stuck my tongue out at him.

He smiled a little and folded me into those big arms, “If anything happened to you…I don’t know, it’s too hard to think about. I’d bring the world down around me, that’s for sure.”

“I know. Relax, it’s okay now.”

“No, it will never be okay. I’ll never get that lump out of my throat. And who the fuck is this Barbie chick??” He asked pulling me down on the bed so he could take his boots off.

I laughed, “I don’t know, but one minute I’m putting a DVD in the player, and the next she’s punching out screens and unloading a Glock on the SUV behind us. Who was that? Your sister, or the mob?”

“Probably the mob, Evil-ira is usually better at taking down her targets. Less gunfire and more creative. I would like to know if she had anything to do with them finding us so easily though.”

“If she does I’m going to kill her myself.” I complained laying down in his arms.

“Only I can kill her baby, but I appreciate the thought. Now go to sleep so I can.”

“I’m still wound up.”

“Good, get naked.” He rolled over and I forgot all about my sore butt until he ran his hand over it later.

“That time I got carried away. You scared me. I’ve never been scared before.

“Never?”

“Never. Well, one time I thought I was going to die from food poisoning, but that pissed me off more than scared me.”

“You should watch the spanking me with Barbara around, I don’t think she likes it.”

“I don’t give a fuck what she likes, you’re my wife and none of her concern.”

“Still, I don’t want you giving Lou the wrong idea.”

“Lou knows me well enough. I swear they’re arguing again. He should fuck her and get it over with. That man is practically salivating he wants her so bad.”

I laughed and snuggled up against his naked body. “Like you weren’t with me.”

“I drooled. I just chose to do it in private.”

“What happened to you those first few days after you took me?”

“I was around. It was easier to think without your smart mouth distracting me all the time.”

“What did you think about? Me?”

“Yes. Every time I thought about taking you back my brain locked up. Normally I can function without a problem, make plans, run jobs, hide out, whatever. When I couldn’t see past the next five minutes without you, it pissed me off. I blamed you.”

“You always blame me.” I teased him. “Now get some sleep before I get a second wind.”

“Your endurance is severely lacking my love, but I’ll fix that as soon as we get rid of these two idiots.” He said playfully.

“You don’t like her do you?”

“No, she’s too small and her accent irritates me.”

“You’re just mad we’re not alone anymore so you can behave badly again.”

“That too.”

I did my best to keep Barb away from the guys after that. The gun thing she pulled still had Lou seething. He was barely speaking to her, and when he did he was short and rude.

I threatened to say something to him, but Turner shook his head. Only a few more hours and we can get back to…back to what? The house up in the woods? I want to see my dad while we’re this close.

Turner flipped a breaker when I asked. “Absolutely not. Not until you marry me.”

I stomped my foot, “No. I’m not going to marry you, yet. You can’t keep me from my family.”

“I can, and I will until I know you won’t betray me. I love you, but I don’t trust you as far as I could throw you.”

“I thought you said you trusted me?”

“More than most, but not completely. And don’t stomp your foot at me, it’s childish.”

I stomped both feet and ran back inside the RV. We only stopped for gas and to check for any damage. Other than a few dents the RV was in pretty good shape. I was tired and cranky because Turner was being a jerk again.

There’s no reason why he should keep me from my dad. I’m sleeping with the man. What more does he need? Marriage? I’m sorry, but I’m not marrying this crazy man.

I capped my temper and went to sit on the sofa.

Lou made me jump when he scooped Barb up and said, “I’ve had about enough of this.” and stormed past me to back room.

I looked at Turner who shrugged and took the driver’s seat. I heard Barb squeal a few times as we got on the freeway and laughed. He’s had enough all right. I hope Turner has another set of sheets for that bed or we’re getting a hotel.

I sat up front with him, “Hungry?”

He nodded.

“Too bad. I’m on strike unless you take me to see my dad. No sex, no food, and I might just stop speaking to you too.”

He shrugged like it was nothing to him and turned on the radio.

I pouted and wished there was something I could say to change his mind. “I’m not marrying a man I’ve known for three minutes.”

He shrugged again.

“What if he was sick?”

He shrugged again and looked in the rear view mirror, “Two words Peach, I’ll take you straight to him.” He offered me.

“Fuck you?” I laughed feeling the better part of my temper.

“That, my love, is going to cost you.” He warned with a hint of amusement. “Your mouth is going to bring you down hard and fast. I might enjoy this more than I thought.”

“Bite me.” I said smiling into my hand. It’s so hard to stay mad at him. Dammit.

“I can do that. Come over here.” He reached out and took my arm because I tried to shift away from him. “Now look. We need to get something straight right now. You don’t hold out sex, you will go make me a sandwich, and you will marry me. I don’t care what order you do them in, but these are not options.”

“I don’t like you anymore.” I lied.

“Get used to it. I’m not trying to make you like me at the moment. I’m working and you’re getting in the way.” He patted my butt hearing the door open. “Behave, I don’t have time to deal with you and your insolence.”

“You can be so mean sometimes.” I complained looking at Barb.

Lou ignored me as he took my seat. “Damn women.”
