‘Hi everyone, both my wife and I wanted to thank you all for your wishes. Its been a difficult time, and I know having so many people thinking of us, helped get me through, so we wanted to introduce you all to the newest addition to our family, our son,

Aiden, Anthony Stone, he was born November 3
rd
weighing just over 3lbs, but is now a healthy 6lbs 5ozs. Luckily he was already a good weight when he was delivered and has continued to surprise everybody,’ he giggled to the crowd and then carried on ‘which is why we are now able to take him home. Thank you again for keeping us in your thoughts it’s meant so much to us both. Goodnight.’ We were walked to our waiting car by security, where John and Lys were waiting to finally take our family home.

Chapter 27

Summer

   It
’s been three months since we left the hospital, and things have gone from good to great, our lives have continued to be happy and full. Mason and his family have grown close again, and both Gaby and Henry have been back and forward to the UK to visit us, they are absolutely devoted to their grandson, but what is amazing is how in love they seem with Lily, their relationship has gone from strength to strength. Lily has worked her magic and you would never know that she wasn’t their biological granddaughter.  Mason has been back and forward to the US but doesn’t stay away for longer than two days, and has been maintaining contact with his businesses via telecom and skype chat.

We decided to celebrate Thanks Giving in the UK, with all our family surrounding us, it was nice to continue a tradition that Mason loved so much, and we truly did have lots to be thankful for.  Christmas was amazing, we did the whole thing together at our home, we had a huge tree, lots of gifts, and a massive turkey, it really was a family affair. He’s currently recording in his studio so he can finally release the new record he announced before the accident. With everybody busy living their lives, I’m happy to sit back and watch for a change, which is how I find myself sitting on my bed deciding what to wear to lunch with my friends Lys and John.

‘Hey sweetie, what you doing? We need to leave in like ten minutes to make our lunch reservations.’

‘I know, sorry I was just reflecting on everything.  I know I’ve been a bit out there lately and I haven’t asked about you. How have you been Lys?’

‘Oh god hun, I’m fine. I don’t really blame you considering everything that’s happened over the last three months, speaking of, where is everyone?’

‘Oh, Mase is in the studio, Lily is out with her auntie Mel, and Aiden’s with his grandparents, so it’s just us.’

‘That’s nice.’ At that moment John shouted up the stairs

‘Come on girls, what are you doing, move your cute arses.’ We giggled at his words and I finished getting ready.

‘Hey it takes time to look good John, we can’t all walk out of the bathroom looking like you.’

‘Well that’s true’ John walked into the room as I giggled and walked over to them both

‘It’s been too long since we were together, I’m sorry for not taking more time with each of you. I’ve just been so….well you know.’

‘Babe, lets look at this logically, in a year, you’ve become a widow and single parent, mind you that was true before anyway, you’ve taken a trip to New York, where you saved a stranger, got stabbed and fell for this stranger, stop me if I have any of this wrong,’ I couldn’t help but laugh at him ‘then your friends show up and we basically bulldoze our way into your hotel room, you finally fell in love, had amazing sex, got a dose of the paps, had an even worse dose of Mason’s family, had a heartbreaking trip back to the UK. Stop me if I have the next part wrong,’ I gave him a nod and he continued ‘Lets see where are we, oh yeah, we all move in together, in this amazing house, Lily starts school, we all settle into life in the UK, at which time you find out your pregnant, even though you thought that couldn’t happen, Mase, surprises us by coming to the UK. You get chased by the paps again, The Stones decide to come visit, you pass out and have another hospital stay, you get married, do a chat show, make some announcements, and then get chased by a psycho, who puts you back in the hospital, where we watch you go into a coma, have a C section, enter Aiden, early but beautiful. Ok, I’m almost done. We watch Mase become a basket case while your unconscious, then our happiness when you wake up and meet your son for the first time, then there‘s the fans, which stood by and waited for any news about you and your baby, an amazing scene by the way. Then three months later, here we are. Did I about sum it all up. That happened in less than a year. Holy shit I need a drink after all that, lets go to lunch.’ With that he strode out to the car leaving Lys and I with our mouths gaping open.

‘Holy fuck, has it really only been a year? Wow, I need a drink. Let’s go.’

I completely agreed and off we went. It didn’t take long for us to attract attention at the little restaurant we chose, apparently people were still interested in my story, the fairytale that had become my life after meeting Mason. The press had stepped back to allow us time to recover and be a family but that didn’t stop everyone else from being interested. I tried to keep myself inconspicuous but I just couldn’t manage to stay invisible. Regardless of how I felt we still managed to have a great lunch, we talked, laughed and reminisced about the last year.

‘I still don’t understand how the police never caught the guy who caused your accident, I mean with the amount of surveillance that this country has, the fact that you called the police and they had all the details while you were being followed, yet they still didn’t catch the fucker.’ John seemed pissed and with good reason.

Nobody seemed to be able to tell me what the fuck happened or why, I had no idea why I was followed or who the guy was that watched me at the lights that night. Mase had tried his best to find out anything, he had put his best security team on it and yet nobody seemed to have a clue. I was beginning to think maybe it was all connected, the stabbing, the strange guy watching me at the lights and later the same guy following me and pushing me off the road. Was somebody trying to hurt Mase by getting to me, I was so confused. Why would somebody want to hurt me? Was this some sort of retribution from my previous life? When I was an imprisoned wife. If so were we both at risk, was the stabbing my fault? No it couldn
’t have been, that person headed straight for Mason, they didn’t even see me until I stepped in to help. So many questions, with no answers. Yet the police had no information on either incident.

‘Perhaps they’ll never catch anybody, they didn’t have much luck with the stabbing did they? Mase has security teams here and back in the US trying to uncover anything but neither have found anything. Do you think….um, do you think its something to do with Mr Black?’

‘How could it be sweetie? No offence but it’s not like anybody actually liked that man, they just tolerated him for business purposes. Why would you think this is your fault? Mason is a high profile celebrity, with a multi million dollar business. Its more likely that they targeted you after the incident in New York, knowing you and Mase were married, but that doesn’t answer why they would hurt you knowing you were pregnant, the sick fuckers. When they do catch them they should throw away the key.’

‘Thanks Lys, but until they find something we will never know.’ I changed the subject trying to bring back the light-hearted conversation from earlier but my worry would continue to nag at me until we had the answers to all these questions.

I arrived home about 4pm that afternoon, Lys had left to meet a friend, and John was busy with work. The house was eerily quiet. I had expected to find a full house, so I checked my phone for any missed calls or messages, nothing.

‘Mason …. babe are you home?’ No response, I walked into the studio. All the lights were on but Mase was nowhere to be found. The rest of the house was just as empty. I started to get a sinking feeling in my stomach, so I grabbed my phone and ran into our bedroom locking the door behind me, and I started to make calls to all our family members, making sure they were all ok.

‘Mel, thank God, Is everything ok?’

‘Sure hun, what’s wrong?’

‘Oh uh nothing. I ….I just had a strange feeling, like I needed to make sure you were all ok.’

‘We’re good, I was just about to bring Lily home.’

‘No, can you keep her out a little while longer, I know this sounds weird but I just want to make sure everyone’s ok first.’

‘Ok, I’ll take her for ice cream, but promise me you’ll call me back when you’ve talked to everyone.’

‘Of course I will. I’m sorry this sounds silly but after everything that’s happened, I’m kind of listening to my gut.’

‘Ok, speak to you soon, bye.’

‘Bye.’ I know I probably freaked Mel out but I had to know they were all alright.

‘Henry, hi sorry I just wanted to make sure your ok, and having a good time,’ No response, the line was silent. My heart started to thunder in my chest ‘Hello, Henry are you there? Gaby? Is everything alright?’ No response at all, suddenly a cry came from the other end, Aiden. My baby, tears sprung to my eyes and I didn’t know what to do.

‘Please, please talk to me, I need to know if Aiden’s ok, please.’ All I could do was beg for a response. None came, the line went dead, and I screamed. A loud bang from outside the door jump started my heart, and then Mason broke through the bedroom door, running to me.

‘Summer…. Are you ok? I tried to call but the lines were dead, your cell was engaged, I can’t get hold of my parents, Mel called and said you sounded worried, babe please tell me what’s wrong?’ My tears were clouding my vision and the sobs were overtaking me.

‘I heard Aiden crying….I couldn’t get a response, nobody would answer me. Your parents….I…I don’t know where they are or if their ok. Somebody has our baby… our baby….our baby.’ I couldn’t think straight, I just sobbed.

‘Jesus Christ, what the fuck’s happening? Mason… what’s going on? Summer?’

‘John, I need you to call the police ASAP, I need you to tell them that our son and my parents have been abducted, tell them we need assistance now.’

‘What…. I…of course.’

‘John what’s going on, the front door was wide open.’

‘Lys come with me now.’ My friends left and I fell into an unknown abyss leaving my beautiful man to shoulder the brunt of a fucked up situation.

‘Mase, the police are on the way, I called your security teams to let them know what’s going on. What the fuck is going on?’

‘I’m not completely sure, all I heard is Summer saying somebody has Aiden, and God only knows what’s happened to my parents. Oh my God, Mel.’

‘I’ll call her now, what do you want me to tell her?’

‘Explain what we know, and tell her to bring Lily straight home, no stops, I need them here so we know their safe. Lys…can you please call Clive, his numbers on my cell, I need to make sure additional security is brought in, can you tell him what’s happening.’

‘Of course, right away.’

My friends ran around us trying to help, while I lay crumpled in my husbands arms. Sirens blaring and lights flashing brought me back to the reality that somebody had my in laws and son. Why, who knew.

‘Baby, I need to take you downstairs, the police need to know what’s happening.’

I nodded, but couldn
’t bring myself to speak. We walked downstairs, well Mason held me up most of the way. How selfish of me, I thought, I’m falling apart but he’s feeling this just as much as me.

‘Mase ….. I’m …I’m sorry. You’re scared too, and I’m a mess. I’m so, so sorry.’

‘Shush babe, its going to be ok. We’ll find them.’

‘Mr Stone, I’m detective Jones, this is DCI Brown. We received a frantic call from Mr Sinclaire, which usually wouldn’t gain momentum this fast but based on your previous history we are taking this very seriously.’

‘Thank you, I know this sounds a bit weak, but if you knew our family you would understand why my wife is distraught right now. I’m afraid I couldn’t get much from her, I think she may be in shock, but I know her well enough to understand when she tells me somebody has our son, I believe her. I assume you are up to speed with the incident 4 months ago when my then pregnant wife was run off the road.’

‘Yes sir, we have all those details, and I have been liaising with the officers dealing. I’m afraid they haven’t got very far.’

‘I know that, but if we are being targeted by some unknown threat it stands to reason that they would attempt to get to us by any means. My parents took our son out for the day, my sister took our daughter out, I stayed home to work in my studio, while my wife went to lunch with her friends. If we were being watched, they would know how to get to us.’
