Annual Academy Awards ceremony in this book. The ceremony took place in both New York and Los Angeles, hosted by Donald O’Connor on the west coast and Fredric March in the east. Gary Cooper announced the nominees in the Best Actress category via a prerecorded message from Mexico, on the set of his latest film, and Donald O’Connor announced the winner live in the Pantages Theater. I also rewrote the presenter’s speeches to fit the chapter better, and made the red carpet a much grander affair than it actually was back then. Finally, the true winners of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Picture for the year 1953 were William Holden for
