“Okay, Kate.” Nate chuckled softly as he walked Kate to the door. “It is really good to see you again.”

“You too.” Kate kissed him on the cheek before she left.

Nate’s phone vibrated in his pocket as he clocked out. It was Darren.

“Hey,” Nate answered, and a soft smile crawled up his face.

“Hey,” Darren said. “You all done?”

“Yeah, just getting ready to leave.” Nate struggled with the phone as he pulled on his coat. “You?”

“I’m out front.”

“You’re what?” Nate asked, confused. He couldn’t believe what he’d heard.

“I’m out front, waiting for you.” Darren chuckled. “Hurry up,” he said, then hung up the phone.

Nate felt his heart beat faster as he rushed out the front door, with his scarf and gloves still in his hand.

And there Darren was, standing in front of him, looking ever so handsome.

“What are you doing here?” Nate exclaimed, falling into Darren’s arms.

“Couldn’t wait to see you.” Darren smiled, giving him a kiss. He took the scarf out of Nate’s hands and wrapped the long garment around Nate’s neck, making sure Nate was warm enough before he turned and hailed down a cab. “Come on.”

“What? Where’re we going?” Nate asked as Darren dragged him into the cab.

“You’ll see.”

Fifteen minutes later, the cab dropped them off in Midtown.

“Oh my god,” Nate gasped when he realized where they were.

“This was our first date. Remember that?” Darren grinned as he watched Nate staring at the giant Christmas tree towering over the skating rink.

“Our first kiss.” Nate looked over to Darren, his smile wide and his eyes glowing with happiness.

“Many firsts to come, my love.” Darren wrapped his arm around Nate’s waist, pulling his lover flush against him, kissing him. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”
