Upon telling him this, he was happy and said that he was only dating the other girl because he felt that he had to move on. The heartbreak was too intense and he wanted to try and forget her but it didn’t work, and they had started making plans for things to do together as soon as they saw each other. It also meant that it gave her extra impetus to save up money and she was determined to move out with Ana soon.
They spoke about it excitedly and they decided that as soon as they could arrange it they would move to Newtown. Ana had been ready for this step for a while, and now that she was seeing Colton she wanted to be nearer to him. She imagined that her weeks could be spent enjoying the city and on the weekends she could go to his cabin, and she was already starting to envisage it. It filled her up with a calm warmth as she thought about everything they could do together, and although she tried to restrain herself from getting too worked up over things that had yet to be decided, she allowed herself to get carried away just a little bit.
However, when the weekend came Ana woke to find her bed empty. She reached around to try and search for him but there was no sign. She called out but he had disappeared, and when Angelica came out of her room she found that Ana was a wreck and about to collapse in tears. She searched all around the room for a note or some sign of where he went but there was nothing. The week had been perfect but it had ended in a nightmare.
“How could I have been so stupid?” she asked through mournful sobs. “I really thought he was being honest but he’s just as bad as Glenn. What is it about them? Why did they have to torture me so much? Wasn’t it enough the first time? Why did he spend a week with me and say all those things and then just leave? He’s a monster,” she cried.
Angelica didn’t have an answer to those questions so she held her friend close and tried to provide a soothing voice, but nothing could comfort Ana who kept wailing against the cosmos.
“I was falling in love with him and he just left. How could he do that to me? Did I just mean nothing to him? After everything that we shared? After all the time we spent together?”
Her eyes stung and her heart broke inside, this time she was sure it had broken for good and there was no way that she could ever repair it. Tears stung her eyes and her throat was raw from crying. Her body shook and shuddered and Angelica brought out hot chocolate and ice cream. The hours went by but Ana didn’t calm down. Instead her emotional pain hardened her heart and turned it into a bitter angry.
She clenched her fists and her tears became drops of pure fury, steaming as they left her boiling body. Her eyes narrowed with rage and her face took on a grim expression, as if all traces of romance had been wiped from her body. She was a being of vengeance, ready and willing to go after those who had caused her pain and make them suffer in the way she had suffered.
“I’m going to find him,” she growled, “I’m going to find him and I’m going to make him tell me why he did this. I’m going to make him look me in the eyes and tell me why he led me on all this time only to leave me with nothing but an empty bed.”
Angelica tried to stop her and tell her that she was only acting out of hurt and that it wasn’t a rational decision but Ana would not listen. She couldn’t be dissuaded from the course of action that she had settled on. Aunt Rose had been right. Ana laughed as she thought about how much energy and time would have been saved had she just listened to her aunt. She felt foolish for giving Colton another chance. When he came crawling back she should have left him to rot and not be taken in by that sob story.
She drove out to his cabin, her hands clenched the wheel so tightly that her knuckles were white. She had as much loathing for herself as she did for Colton. She knew what he had been like. She knew what kind of creature he was and yet she had let herself be taken in by his charm. She looked at everything that happened in the cold light of day and saw that at the heart of it he was simply a bad-tempered man who knew the right things to say. He and his cousin were just the same, and she made it a point to go and find Glenn after she had spoken to Colton.
She followed the directions Colton had given her and pulled up when she got to the end of the path. By this time it was night but she was so full of anger that she didn’t even flinch at the prospect of going into the woods alone. She marched forward, her eyes blazing, and just barely noticed that the moon was full again. The last time there had been one she had been with Glenn, and he had been telling her that the full moon signified a great change. So far the only things it had signified were heartbreaks and she was sick of them. She cursed the day that she had met the Huntington’s because her life would have been better off without them.
Her eyes adjusted to the dim darkness and she found the cabin. It stood alone in an opening with thick trees around it. The whole place was creepy, and if she had been in a sane state of mind she would have felt the hairs on the back of her neck prickle and stand up. As it was she strode up to the door and banged on them with her bare hands. Again and again she thumped against the thick wood, feeling the sturdy walls stand firm against her small fists. She walked up and looked in the windows but she could see nothing inside. She called out for Colton to come and face her.
“You think you’re some tough guy but you’re really a coward. Who spends all that time with someone and then leaves without saying a word?! I don’t care what you went through in your childhood. It doesn’t excuse your behavior and whenever you tell that sob story to your next victim just remember me and how much you hurt me. I’m done with the both of you. God damn it come out and face me! I’m sick of these games! All I want to know is why. Why did you treat me this way? Why could you never just show me who you really are?”
By this point she was out of breath and figured that Colton wasn’t at the cabin. But if he wasn’t in there where was he? All of a sudden she was acutely aware of her surroundings and the encroaching darkness, and when she heard a sound in the distance her breath caught in her throat. She peered into the inky blackness of the night and then twisted her head sharply as she caught the sound of rustling. Then a loud, animalistic roar echoed around her and her heart beat fiercely in her breast.
She went to flee but she was so frightened that she became paralyzed and there was nowhere to run to anyhow. She searched the darkness for any sign of movement and then it came to her. The stomping of paws thundered across the ground and she heard branches being snapped under the weight of something heavy, and large. Ana looked more closely and saw a large shape move in the darkness. It came forward and she backed up, stumbling across the deck, until her back hit the log cabin.
When the beast came into view she saw that it was a grizzly bear and she could barely scream. Her eyes went wide with terror and she fumbled at the door to try and get to safety. She couldn’t take her eyes off the terrible, frightening beast. Its beady eyes gleamed in the moonlight and saliva dripped off its sharp teeth. Claws were unsheathed as it ran across the earth, eating up the ground like it was nothing, and then it roared again as it leapt up on the balcony.
Ana cowered in terror and held her hands up in a vain effort to ward off the attacker. She was sure that her life was going to end there and then. All her regrets and hopes, all her heartbreak meant nothing. She could feel the monster’s warm breath hit her skin and her gut twisted with revulsion. She felt like throwing up and she prayed for an escape.
She was sure she was going die, and in her last moments she looked up to the bear. Her eyes were wide with fright and they glistened with tears, but then the bear’s face contorted and it howled in pain. Its arms raised and it lumbered on two feet, and then it crashed down on all fours.
Its body writhed and it shook, and it screamed in pain. Ana tried for the door again and pressed herself as close up against the cabin as she could, for she was witnessing something monstrous and horrible. But then something miraculous happened. The bear turned into a man, with a broad back and long, shaggy hair. He raised his head and their eyes locked, and that’s when everything became clear. She shook her head in horror, for the man she was looking at was Colton, the man she loved.
Chapter 7
Ana’s face was white as a sheet as the full moon bathed the world in a silvery glow. She had intended to come to the cabin to confront Colton but she had never expected this. In a mere instant she had seen a monstrous, beastly bear roar and clamber up onto the balcony before her. It’s dark, beady eyes had squinted at her and gleamed cruelly in the darkness of the night while saliva had dripped down off its sharp teeth.
Its thick fur was dark and covered every inch of its body, and knife-like claws emerged from its paws. It was a deadly creature and as it had towered above her she had gotten a sense of its unmatched power. Hot breath blasted her as it roared, and that ear-splitting roar still echoed around her mind moments after it had changed. She had thought her life was in danger, and she expected to see nothing but the blackness of infinite oblivion. But she was still alive.
By some miracle she had survived, although her heart was thundering in her chest and her body was drenched with fear. She gulped in breath as she looked at Colton and almost couldn’t believe her eyes. Her mouth moved but no sound came out, and he looked at her with his piercing, hooded eyes. He was naked and the moonlight kissed his sinewy body. As she tried to process everything she felt his crackling, electric, intense energy. He looked at her wildly, as if he was still more beast than man, and she felt arousal surge within her.
All of her intentions to confront him had been replaced by a desire that could only be quenched by his love. It was a yearning deep within her soul that had to be sated and took precedence over everything else inside her. A hunger erupted and every instinct told her that she needed to devour and be devoured. When she looked into his eyes she felt his primal energy overwhelm her. It was as though she were tapping into some unseen force of the universe and it guided her movements, yet she was conscious of everything.
There were so many questions but they would be saved for later, for now her body needed him, and she could tell from the way he looked at her that he needed her as well. He prowled over the deck and crawled towards her on all fours. Her body, rigid with fear, softened and allowed him to come to her. In the cool moonlight they kissed and rolled around on the deck, a deep passion passing between their lips as they pressed together in ardent passion.
They held each other tightly and they pressed themselves so closely into one another. It was like their souls were calling out to one another and they wanted their bodies to merge into one vibrant being. Their fingers and limbs entwined as they lost themselves in each other’s essence. All pretense of rationality was vanquished by their insatiable lust. Colton took her hands.
“It’s okay,” he said, reassuring her, but the terror had long since subsided.
She was as much beast as he was, so there were no words necessary as they kissed each other and opened the heavy wooden door. The cabin was dark but a fire was crackling and the room was warm. The two of them stumbled through the rooms, never letting their hands stray from one another. They slammed each other against the walls and Ana felt the breath driven from her. Colton pinned her as her body screamed for him. He teased her, bringing his lips so closely to hers yet always leaving them just out of her reach until she thought she was going to be driven insane.
When their lips touched it set a fire sparking within them that consumed their very souls. Colton wrapped his arms around her body and she felt her feet being lifted off the ground. She felt his biceps swell as he held her up and eagerly kissed her chest and breasts. When they at last reached his bedroom he lifted her up again as though she was weightless and threw her onto the bed. When she landed she laughed with sheer excitement for delirium had taken root inside her.
Her laughs were soon muffled as his hungry lips locked with hers again and she gave way to the unbridled passion that swarmed over their bodies. She reached down and ran her hands along his tight muscles as she felt his erection pressing against her. He tore off her clothes once again, ripping the seams apart as he scratched to get at her supple body underneath. She gasped as he ravaged her. His hands and teeth were everywhere, biting and squeezing and massaging her, driving her wild with delight.
She gave herself as a sacrifice to Eros and slid down his body, seeking to pleasure him with everything she had to offer. She placed the soft curves of her voluptuous breasts around his thick erection and started massaging it, kissing the tip as it became engulfed in her breasts. Colton groaned with pleasure as the sensations swam through him and let her warm breath wash over him.
Her hunger overtook her too and she slid further down, allowing her mouth to take every swollen inch of him. She let her saliva drip down his cock as she sucked him deep and hard, until she let it lay free as she massaged his soft balls and placed her lips around them, sucking them gently in her mouth. Colton’s body writhed and his head twisted with pleasure as Ana pleasured him.
His hands came around her head and brushed her hair out of the way. She looked up at him with her wide eyes as she wrapped her warm lips around him again, and she watched his face contort. His body tensed and she sucked harder than she had ever sucked before as she sought to give him ultimate pleasure. She could taste his sweaty, sexy manliness on her tongue and she couldn’t get enough.
“Oh God Colton, you’re so big, you’re a monster,” she said, and Colton moaned loudly in response a she devoured his cock.
The emotions added to the intensity of the mood for she felt completely in love and in lust with him, and when she looked at him she knew that this was the man she wanted to please forever. She sucked as much as she could before Colton pulled her up. He let her lean over him; her hair fell over his face and he let himself drift in her womanly scent as his hands moved down, groping her breasts and teasing her nipples. He took them in his hands, pinching and pulling them, sending small shocks of intense pleasure jolting through her.
Rapid, sharp gasps escaped her lips as his hands moved down her sizzling body and onto her burning pussy. His fingers scratched her inner thighs and then ventured between her wet lips, stroking them lightly before sliding his fingers into her. They danced, and she almost collapsed in pleasure as different sensations whirled around her. They kissed and nuzzled against each other as he made her gasp and moan, and seemed to take great delight in doing so. It was almost exactly like the first time he had done this, although there was a greater deal of intimacy between them now.
He had his long, slender fingers deep inside her and her eyes were squeezed shut with pleasure until he shifted her over and she slid down onto him. Ana’s eyes shot open as she straddled him and felt his thick girth threaten to split her in two. His hands clamped her waist and although he was on the bottom he controlled the rhythm and the movements; she was merely along for the ride.
Colton thrusts his powerful hips and Ana enjoys the sensations coursing through her body. Sweat streams down her curves and she leans back. Colton’s hands wander to her front and play with her breasts as they fuck. Letting her arms hang loosely by her sides as she gives herself to him.
Colton reaches his arm around to find her long hair. He grabbed a handful and pulled back on it tightly, bending her body to its limit so that pain mixed with pleasure and blurred into a potent cocktail. Ana screamed in delightful anguish and she found herself falling forward. Her hands leaned against his thick torso and the tips of her hair brushed against his skin. She leaned down and kissed him deeply. The orgasm was rushing inside her like a cascading waterfall and she could feel the electricity crackling in her mind.
“Growl for me,” she pleaded, needing to hear his primal sounds.
He gripped her body tightly and moved her head so that her ear rested next to his mouth. His hips pounded against her furiously as though they were in overdrive and his hand held her body tightly. She waited and waited for him to do it, and when that low growl came it was like an earthquake. Her body vibrated and trembled with happiness and the erotic energy overloaded her mind. She winced and jerked as the orgasm filled every part of her being and sent her to another transcendent realm.
As she rested against his body and felt him fuck her she seemed to be more aware of everything than she ever had been before. As though he had managed to transform her into another being. She felt connected with him and the rest of the universe, as if she could feel everything from the first cascading explosion of the big bang to the dying embers and ashes of the cosmos in its last days. She felt complete and whole. As the shattering moans filled the log cabin and Colton erupted inside her; she felt like she knew the vast mysteries of the universe, and the vigorous sex had been the key to all of that.
Their bodies were beacons of lust and in the afterglow of sex it took a long time for their passion to dissipate. It was different than the other times they had had sex. Somehow she had always known that he was holding something back. It had still been exciting, intense, and sensual, but now that she had discovered his secret he wasn’t holding anything back. Although her body was incredibly sore she was completely happy and didn’t want to be anywhere else in the world.
She played with his hair and looked up at him smiling. He looked down on her too, and in those eyes she swam as if they were a deep lake. She cuddled up to him and his arms fell around her curves naturally, and in silence they let their passion linger, for it felt too precious to break the mood.
The fire crackled in the other room, providing a perfect ambiance for their romantic entanglement. Through the windows silvery moonlight came through in shafts. Outside there was a whole word going on, but they could only think about themselves and the purity of their love. Ana had always been wanting to find magic in the woods and she had just proven that it existed.
Her fingers traced circles around his heavy body and her lips left soft kisses. His strong heartbeat echoed in her mind and she lost herself to its steady rhythm. She felt as if when she was with him there was nothing in the entire world that could hurt her. She sighed in contentment, and eventually their heavy breathing subsided into a more controlled rhythm.
Her eyes sparkled in the darkness and his stubble scratched her as they kissed, but there was nothing else she wanted. If her life had ended there she wouldn’t have felt cheated for she knew she had found something for which so many people longed. She would not have regretted a single instant.
Neither of them knew whether it was for minutes or hours that they lay there. For all they knew it may have been days, it didn’t matter for time seemed to lose all meaning for them in that cabin of paradise. They had found each other and the world outside their love meant little to them.
Eventually Ana’s mind settled and she remembered why she had come to the log cabin in the first place. She remembered the pain that had been caused by Colton’s absence and how her heart had been left in fragments. Even though things made sense she still needed answers.
“You hurt me,” she said, and Colton sighed heavily. He cuddled her and gave her a long kiss on her forehead.
“I’m sorry, I really am, for the way everything turned out. But you have to understand why I was so mysterious. I told you I had secrets.”
“Things are starting to make sense now. So that fortune teller…and when I asked you about magic in the forest?”
“I was scared that you were onto my secret. It’s something that is…it’s precious to me and I didn’t want anyone to know. I didn’t expect to find you here tonight. You weren’t supposed to find out like this.”
“But I was going to find out?” she shifted position a little so that their eyes were on an even level. Their heads were inches away from each other and their lips were so close they spoke in whispers, so that their heavy breath washed softly over each other.
“I wanted to tell you. I’ve wanted to tell you for so long but it’s been difficult. After this last week I felt things that I had never felt before. I wanted to show you this part of me but I was so afraid that it would frighten you…that it would make you think I was a monster. I knew I was going to turn and I had to leave you. It takes over and I can’t control it. It’s like I have this whole other person inside of me sometimes, this beast that’s just waiting to be let out.”
Ana leaned her head against him and smiled. “I wouldn’t have reacted like that. All I ever wanted was for you to be honest with me and to be yourself. If this is yourself, then, well, it doesn’t change anything.”
Colton’s face lit up, as if he couldn’t believe what she was saying.
