The bullet trains on Earth were similar to the trains on Mirach except the one Sarah and Jonathan took to get to the Pelican to meet Peter hovered above the track without touching it. The trip wasn’t long but Jonathan could tell how overwhelmed Sarah was when she saw all different kinds of species for the first time. Some were speaking an alien language that Sarah had never heard of before.

When the train arrived at its destination they got off and headed straight for the Pelican. The entrance was like any other entrance except it was more high tech and modern than those found on Earth. When they went inside they were greeted by a green skinned alien standing behind a podium holding a holographic reservations list.

“Welcome to the Pelican. I’m Roman Marx. Do you have a reservation sir?” he asked.

“Actually we’re here to meet my friend near the bar,” Wolf answered.

“Very good sir,” he said.

Wolf looked around and spotted Peter sitting at one of the tables with a metal case next to his feet. The tables were round and made of glass. The chairs had a green color to them and were made out of fine suede leather. A band, consisting of different kinds of species, was playing a song that was alien to Sarah but had a nice rhythmic tune as they walked over to greet Peter.

“Welcome back, Jonathan. You were gone a long time. Longer than I expected,” Peter said giving his friend a friendly hug.

“Yeah, well I was preoccupied,” Wolf said smiling at Sarah who smiled back.

“And you must be Sarah,” Peter said.

“I am,” she said.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Peter said shaking her hand.

They took their seats next to Peter.

“Did you bring it?” he asked Peter who placed the metal case on the table. He opened it revealing the pair of metal gloves inside.

“I thought you were bringing the suit,” Sarah said.

“Actually this is the suit. You see once Jonathan puts on the gloves the nanites start to replicate themselves forming a silver metal substance around his entire body. The suit gives him the ability to create a range of weapons from the nanites. They allow him to fly, become invisible and see in three spectrums of light using a heads-up display,” Peter explained.

“Wow,” Sarah reacted.

“It’s supposed to give me enhanced strength and armor as well,” Wolf added.

“Exactly, which is why we are trying to keep it safe,” Peter said closing the case and placing it back down on the floor next to his feet.

“And which is why I need to take it back to Earth,” Wolf said looking at Sarah.

“You mentioned nanites. What are those?” Sarah asked Peter.

“They’re machines working together at the microscopic level. They can create almost anything if you know how to use them,” Peter explained.

“Jonathan explained that before,” Sarah said.

“So tell me about this person you said who seems unstoppable,” Peter asked.

“All I know is that he is made of pure electricity and no one on Earth, as far I can tell, can seem to stop him so far. He’s killed a lot of people,” Wolf explained.

“Pure electricity? That’s incredible. I don’t think there’s anyone on this planet that I know of, that has that ability,” Peter said.

“I need to get back there before more lives are lost,” Wolf said.

“You are going against the wishes of the Oracle,” Peter reminded me.

“I don’t care. Something has to be done,” Wolf said.

“Then I’m going with you,” Peter said.

“What? Why?” Wolf asked.

“Jonathan you need me to fix the suit in case it gets damaged or you get injured. Plus, I’ll need to monitor it since we’ve never tested it before. Besides I don’t think it’s going to be easy going up against this guy,” said Peter.

“What makes you say that?” Sarah asked.

“Look, no matter what planet you live on what’s the one thing that can destroy or fry a machine?” Peter asked her.

“An overload of electricity,” she said.

“Exactly, that is why I’m concerned about this guy who seems to have this incredible power,” said Peter who got a confused look from Sarah. “Hey, I like Earth and I understand why Jonathan wants to do this.”

“How did you and Jonathan first meet?” Sarah asked him.

“I’m not too proud to say this but I come from a planet similar to Earth but more technologically advanced. When I realized that my government was hiding secret information on the Draconan Empire, I hacked into their computer database to expose the truth to my people. I was soon arrested and put on trial for my crime. Shortly after that the Draconans invaded my planet and I managed to escape to Jonathan’s planet with a few others.

That’s where I met Jonathan at a convention in Vega. We talked and became really good friends,” explained Peter.

Peter and I spent the rest of the night catching up on old times while Sarah listened in. Then when he had enough of the club scene, we both felt it was time to call it a night.

“Here’s the plan. We’ll leave tomorrow morning from my place. Why don’t you meet me at my place tonight after you pack your things and then we’ll head back to Earth in my ship,” Wolf told Peter.

“I can do that,” Peter said.

“But you only have two rooms,” Sarah pointed out.

“What? You don’t feel comfortable sleeping with me anymore?” Wolf asked her with a grin on his face. Sarah just blushed in embarrassment.

“You… You two have already slept together?” Peter asked trying not to act jealous.

Sarah and Jonathan soon got back to his place after they left the club. Peter caught up with them after he packed his things and finally slept in the guest room. It had been a long day and Jonathan was as tired as Sarah was. To Jonathan’s surprise Sarah didn't complain about wanting to sleep with him after what they had been through back on Earth.

So they got into his bed and after five minutes she rolled over and put her arm around his chest and laid her head on top of it. For Jonathan, tt felt good to feel the warmth of her body and the beating of her heart. He didn't feel ashamed for falling in love with her. To him she was special.

“Jonathan?” she asked without looking up at him.

“Yeah?”

“I'm sorry I got upset with you back at the base,” she said.

“It's understandable. Like I said, you were angry and had every right to be,” he said.

“Why didn't you trust me to tell me who you really were when we first got to know each other?” she asked.

“Didn't we have this conversation when I was chained up and you were sitting in the corner of that room with a disgusted look on your face?” he asked.

“Yeah but I wasn't thinking straight then either,” she said. “Cut me some slack. Okay?”

“Oh,” I said. She did have a point. After all she had been heavily interrogated and exhausted. “Would you've looked at me any differently if I had told you the truth to begin with?”

“The more I think about it now? No,” was her answer. And that to him was surprising meaning that she was a lot stronger than he gave her credit for.

“Really?” he asked wanting some reassurance.

“When we first met I immediately fell in love with you. I knew from that day on that you were the only one for me. We were so compatible. I should have told you from the beginning that I would love you no matter who or what you are.” There was a moment’s pause and then she said, “I love you Jonathan. I always will.”

“I love you too,” he said breathing a sigh of relief just to hear her say those words. When he realized at that moment that she had fallen asleep, he closed his eyes and did the same.

The next morning the three of them took off in Jonathan’s ship and headed back to Earth.

“So once we get to Earth how do we find a safe place to stay without anyone finding out who we are? I mean Jonathan and I don’t have a driver’s license, social security card or a credit card as Sarah explained to me earlier,” Peter asked as they were flying back through the wormhole.

“I had the proper identification. I’m not sure if I do anymore after I turned myself over to the authorities. Sarah you’re going to have to contact your dad and ask him for help,” Wolf recommended as he piloted the ship.

“Are you kidding? He works for the military. He’s not going to listen to me. Nor will he believe me. Besides he might turn you two in even if I did tell him,” Sarah argued.

“She’s right. Do you and your father get along?” Peter asked her.

“He and I have rarely spoken since my mother passed away.” she said and turned to Jonathan. “What about Colonel Caldwell? The one you told me about last night?” Sarah asked.

“That’s probably not a good idea. A much as I trust him, I’m sure his position has been compromised by now. They’ve probably traced me to him,” Jonathan told her.

“Oh,” was her response.

“There has to be someone else you can trust who doesn’t work for the government,” Peter pointed out.

“There is someone I met who knows my secret but…” Wolf paused for a moment and thought about Justin.

Recommending that they use Justin again was not the best idea. Wolf had to assume that Justin’s position had been compromised after knowing Wolf was being watched almost the entire time while he was with him. Of course, the more he thought about it, Colonel Dickens never mentioned Justin while he was being interrogated.

Maybe that was a good thing.

“But?” Sarah asked waiting for Jonathan to finish his sentence.

“Never mind. His name is Justin Gait. His father owns Gait Industries. His family is very wealthy.” I paused for a moment and sighed. I guess I would have to take a chance and hope that we would find him. “If we can find him, with the right connections he can keep us under the government’s radar,” Jonathan said.

“Can you trust this person?”

“Yeah,” he answered.

“You’re sure about that?” Peter asked.

“Absolutely,” Jonathan said with confidence in his voice.

When they finally exited hyperspace, they spotted Earth in the distance. Jonathan cloaked the ship so it wouldn’t be seen by anyone and headed towards the planet.

Chapter 15

They landed the ship in a safe and remote location away from the prying eyes of the public. Peter kept the ship cloaked and stayed on board with Sarah. Jonathan transported himself down to the surface to meet with Justin who was hopefully attending one of his classes. It was where he first met Justin and the only place he knew where to possibly find him.

Dressed in regular street clothes, Jonathan made his way onto the campus and started asking people if they had seen him. It took awhile to find someone who knew him but when he finally did they told him to go to the administration building. When he got there he parked him in front of large tree and waited. Finally, he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw him coming out. This was his chance to catch him.

“Jonathan?” Justin said when he spotted Jonathan.

He was surprised to see him standing there near the tree waiting for him to come out. Jonthan was just as surprised when he walked over to him.

“Hello, Justin,” Jonathan said.

“What are you doing here? I thought they captured you after you told me you were going to turn yourself in,” Justin said.

“I’m surprised to see you back on campus. Didn’t the government take you in for questioning as well?”

“Thanks to the connections my father has, I was released. Don’t worry I acted dumb as if I was surprised about who you were when I found out,” Justin said as they started walking.

“Are you being watched?”

“I had some help convincing them to stay away,” he said.

“Good because I need your help,” said Jonthan.

“What can I do?” he asked.

“My friends and I need a place to stay while keeping low under the government’s radar. I’m sure there has been a lot of buzz on the news about me lately,” he said.

“Actually, there hasn’t been anything,” Justin said.

“What?” Jonathan said acting surprised.

“It’s as if they have no intention of telling the public there is life out there in the cosmos,” Justin said.

“The Colonel who interrogated me obviously lied to me,” said Jonathan.

“I’m not surprised.”

“Neither am I,” he said.

“So what’s this all about needing a safe place to stay hidden?” he asked.

We stopped in an area on campus where no one was in earshot of our conversation.

“You’ve heard about the incident that took place in San Francisco awhile back?”

“Yeah, he calls himself Shadowgate. No one can seem to stop him. A lot of people are scared.”

“I can stop him but to avoid the military and the government getting in my way, I need a place to lay low.”

“I might be able to help you out. I bought an old warehouse that used to belong to a shipping company located in San Francisco. I’m doing my own research on the latest technology there. My father didn’t have any objection to it. He won’t even know you’re there.”
