In February 1999 the digital voyeur Spacewurm eavesdropped on a random cell phone call in San Francisco and transcribed the conversation for his book
I Listen
. A guy was reading this letter and our response to his girlfriend. After he finished, there was a five-second pause, and then the woman said simply, “Damn.”
